And long may it continue.
Unlikely it will continue for long. Pleased that a couple of individual errors onfield kept them down the table yesterday but they will be back pushing top 6 again very soon. Getting rid of the PE teacher Mr. Cashworth is a good decision.

A mercenary pirate type.

Utterly clueless without Tony and Paul holding his hand and telling him what to do.

But rich enough to never need to work again which could be a useful looking at his reputation of jumping ship for any whiff of booty but not knowing how to raise the sail.

He’ll be remembered for passing the secret Minteh treasure map to the Saudis forcing Tony to pay a fortune to finally land his man.

In what position though? It would be very unfair to demote David Weir who, IMO, has done an even better job than Ashworth.
Two minds are better than one they could share the role.

Also don’t think we can judge anyone who ‘fails’ at United. That club is toxic and rotten from the top down

I think that’s a big statement. Based on what?
Based on how we've developed since Ashworth left. And no, I don't have a clue what the job entails, and I have no solid evidence to back up my opinion. But we certainly haven't got worse since his departure have we? So I would argue that as is so often the case with senior appointments at the Albion these days Weir is an upgrade on his predecessor.

Ashworth had a very good reputation prior to joining us through his work with WBA and England. It was seen as a real coup for us to get him at the time, not the other way around
True, but His reputation was massively enhanced by his association with us.

He went from managing player development for the FA, to Director of football at United in 6 years.

The major event in this transition, was working for Barber and Bloom.
