Can't seem to make an exit plan from it tonight.

New Zealand have bowled 60 overs from the start of the innings without a maiden. I'm obsessed with finding out the record but can't seem to.

Brook's 50 was Boycottesque (56 balls)

Our minds were on winning the Hundred and the "3 in a row" County Championship. We can't be brilliant at
everything.
That was such a brilliant week for a Somerset fan. Beating you in champo and t20 was fun. As usual we didn’t win anything but it was a fun week. Surrey’s capitulation at Taunton was the stuff of legend. Tom Curran giving the Taunton crowd the bird and then losing was excellent.

Make the most of it Berty. A one-off.

Tom Curran being picked to play in the champo? Yeah I thought it was strange but he batted nicely. Obviously his bowling was awful but we know that. What an unpleasant character he is. It must be tough for Surrey fans having to support those obnoxious Curran brothers. They are what my teenage kids would call “pick me, main characters”

Au contraire Berty. The more obnoxious the better imo.

Got some serious shots has Bethell. I can see why pretty much everybody who's seen him bat has gone "we need to pick him now, for everything" regardless of how many runs he's actually scored.
Absolutely. I've now watched every ball faced by Bethell in his test career, and my mind is blown. We were promised a carefree white ball kind of guy, but instead we've got the most sublime technique in attack and defence. Can't say I've seen many a pull shot or straight drive (from a left hander) played so cleanly, with power and arrogant authority. That was some innings today. Brook is all hand-eye coordination and supremely quick hands, whilst Bethell is about technique and playing the ball as late as possible. I'm purring.

I do love the commentators bigging up the kiwis before they tumble

I also like Rod Tucker signalling Southee's out after the review, when there's no one left on the pitch.

He was SO out. I gave that from 12,000 miles away. I love the way he reviews and folk just walk off, including him.

No. 47 Test hat-tricks in history but never one of them.
Oooh, I like that stat.

The one I MUST know, is that England have batted 76 overs in this innings and there hasn't been a single maiden.

That has to be some sort of record.

India beat Bangladesh in Kanpur back in October and won by 7 wickets without Bangladesh bowling a maiden in either innings. Prior to that in Tests, England made 469/4d in the first innings in the third Test in Durban in 1939 and there were no maidens in the 88.5 overs bowled by South Africa. Those are the last 2 occasions it's happened in Test history.
