Sydney .
I had to show my wife this, when she suggested that we could "just drive up to the Great Barrier Reef" from Tamworth when we visit for a few days in January.

"Just the 2000 km, dear? Yeah, no problem..." 🧐

Geography isnt her strong point.
Decades ago, a taxi driver told me he once picked up a couple of Americans from Sydney Airport and asked to be taken to Perth !!!
When the taxi driver had finally finished laughing the comment was, "but it's only the other side of the island... isn't it ?"

Btw, Tamworth is an extremely happening place at that time of year as every January it hosts The Australian Country Music Festival.
The Golden Guitar is the big award to win ; https://www.tcmf.com.au/

Unfortunately we leave 2 days before it starts! Bit gutted as Im a huge Country music fan, but the schedule / time off work just didn't work out! Our lad is there until April though, so he will be donning the boots and Cowboy hat for a few days

Excellent post. This is the link to B&H's online version of the definitive map. I am on the Local Access Forum which advises the Council on keeping these public rights of way open, improving them and identifying 'missing' (old routes that aren't officially designated, like the ones in Benfield Valley) & new rights of way and Open Access land. We are guided by the Rights of Way Improvement Plan.
Ha, so am I. I will attempt to out the Fulham fan next time by wearing something Albion related. Good news about the lost path in Saltdean last night!

This has blown my mind. Why the disparity?

The map projection inflates the distance the further from the equator you look.

You'll note that Greenland is shown to be larger than Australia and roughly the same size as Africa.

And this is even more fun

Possibly my favourite so far.

Pangea, the supercontinent that existed around 300 million years ago, shown with the borders of modern countries.

That would never work. It would be constant wars.

We all need our space and of course, who doesn’t love a sea view?
