Blimey, Le Harve would have been a local derby.Possibly my favourite so far.

Decades ago, a taxi driver told me he once picked up a couple of Americans from Sydney Airport and asked to be taken to Perth !!!I had to show my wife this, when she suggested that we could "just drive up to the Great Barrier Reef" from Tamworth when we visit for a few days in January.
"Just the 2000 km, dear? Yeah, no problem..."
Geography isnt her strong point.
Unfortunately we leave 2 days before it starts! Bit gutted as Im a huge Country music fan, but the schedule / time off work just didn't work out! Our lad is there until April though, so he will be donning the boots and Cowboy hat for a few daysDecades ago, a taxi driver told me he once picked up a couple of Americans from Sydney Airport and asked to be taken to Perth !!!
When the taxi driver had finally finished laughing the comment was, "but it's only the other side of the island... isn't it ?"
Btw, Tamworth is an extremely happening place at that time of year as every January it hosts The Australian Country Music Festival.

Ireland stayed exactly the same?
About a million died of starvation and another million emigrated, so has taken a while for the population to climb back upIreland stayed exactly the same?
I'd guess the increase in Scotland being significantly smaller than England and Wales will have been for broadly similar reasons.About a million died of starvation and another million emigrated, so has taken a while for the population to climb back up
I've been trying to find that place for ages. There's a great map shop in Cecil Court just off Leicester Sq in London. Always enjoy popping along and gawping through the window when I'm up town.
Ha, so am I. I will attempt to out the Fulham fan next time by wearing something Albion related. Good news about the lost path in Saltdean last night!Excellent post. This is the link to B&H's online version of the definitive map. I am on the Local Access Forum which advises the Council on keeping these public rights of way open, improving them and identifying 'missing' (old routes that aren't officially designated, like the ones in Benfield Valley) & new rights of way and Open Access land. We are guided by the Rights of Way Improvement Plan.
About the same odds as the Titanic then?View attachment 193261
Not exactly a map but very interesting nonetheless. Inspiring bravery.
Although after the 1-3 at The Cottage, maybe not!Ha, so am I. I will attempt to out the Fulham fan next time by wearing something Albion related. Good news about the lost path in Saltdean last night!
The map projection inflates the distance the further from the equator you look.

You'll note that Greenland is shown to be larger than Australia and roughly the same size as Africa.
Yes, I only found out about this last year, like we've been lied to all these years. So I purchased a globe, much better representation of scale, except the relief ones massively exaggerate the height of mountains.
