I have 3 daughters, a wife and had a mother so I am all for making sure women have equal rights and are protected from those who might want to take advantage of any kind but especially where that might be of a sexual nature.

I am, however, not sure this thread of the forum was actually doing much to improve the situation especially when we don't know the exact nature of the complaints. Was it telling risque jokes or was it indeed 'touching up' as implied on a programme this morning.

People coming out saying its old news , not surprised about it , appearing in the know and did f*** all about it, maybe they are the ones who should be under the microscope.

Let me clear I am not a Greg Wallace defender - hate master chef and similar- , don't think abuse is right but do think we need to make sure we handle it promptly and directly not via trial by the media.

If I have offended people then sorry but i do think its more of a media circus rather than an attempt to improve anything.
Very much this. There's an awful lot of people who decided to say feck all which would have nipped his antics in the bud. And what a surprise the BBC are at the heart of it again! Ultimately, might we conclude that the BBC exercises a reign of terror over their staff when it comes to any form of whistle blowing on the corporation's ' talent '.
?

As an aside I'm just waiting for the tabloid stitch up of Rod Stewart. He might think he's immune but he's just right for a ' double cross ' and you bet they wont need to dgg' deep for the dirt on him

Not to defend the BBC's past actions but Wallace doesn't work for them. He works for production companies and the allegations cover shows on multiple TV channels.

I've never watched the programme and know nothing of the individual concerned. But to some people, they think fame gives them an entitlement to abuse their position, we're seen it over and over again. People are scared to call them out.

The Beeb should suspend the programme until investigations are concluded.
Why ? it's a programme the public enjoy and have funded through their licences fees. What do you gain by not showing it?, watching it doesn't mean you support him, it just means that you like the programme and it's format. I loathe the bloke but I still watch the programme as I enjoy it and want to see young chefs showing off their skills or failures.

Wasn't it a BBC news investigation that uncovered the issue of a person not employed by them!!!

I take the opposite view.

I'm appalled that the BBC are still giving Wallace a platform. I had watched every episode of the current series until it all came out about the bald fat slug and haven't and wont watch any further episodes. Will the BBC care? Certainly not. But I know I'm doing the right thing and at the end of the day, I can only control what I do.

He seems teflon. I can't find any evidence that a journalist has ever challenged him over his support for Enoch Powell: https://bylinetimes.com/2020/04/30/review-white-riot-why-we-need-a-new-rock-against-racism/

My first thought when he was announced for the 'legends' slot at Glastonbury was that his involvement really indicates how that festival has changed since my childhood.

No, I won't, in the same way that the old days went way too far and needed some correction, what is going on today is almost the polar opposite. The idea of a Non Crime Hate Incident is nuts. Tearing down statues rather than expanding on the history of the person eg Captain Cook tell the story "one of the best explorers and navigators in western history, but also a complete twat who by his arrogance got himself cooked and eaten". Censorship and intolerant demands for political correctness are not the answer.
Nobody is “intolerantly demanding political correctness”.

They’d just like to get into a lift and not have some gross 60 yr old bloke thinks
it’s okay to tell about licking his wife’s fanny out that morning.

They’d like to go to work in a TV studio and not be groped or be subject to some fat old geezer taking his top off and parading around.

They tried going to the BBC and as usual the BBC did bugger all. So they went to the media.

Get a f***ing clue mate.

That's fine, your view and you're obviously entitled to it and have a choice to make. The choice should be available to all to watch or not and by taking it off air you take that choice away.

It shouldn't, what I am getting at is the shock horror of it all and the mass media coverage as if they had uncovered another Saville.
As I said. The victims went to the BBC and the BBC did f*** all.

So they went public.

Having said that, it’s the Storm of ‘87 syndrome.

Every slight breeze is given a name and declared a hurricane.

Wasn't he bald and fat before it all came out?

His odious face seems to have finally dropped off the front page of the BBC news website.

Also, can a Mod add the missing G off the end of his name in this thread title? I wouldn't want him to miss what is being written about him on here...

Did they go to the BBC or did they go to the independent production companies that make the programmes? It's a bit odd as this seems to have all come to light because of a bbc news investigation which started in the summer!

These are quotes from this article. BBC News - Greg Wallace

BBC News, which is editorially independent from the wider organisation, started investigating Wallace in the summer, after becoming aware of allegations. The claims we have heard are across five shows, from 2005 to 2022.

Announcing its investigation on Thursday, Banijay UK said in a statement: "This week the BBC received complaints from individuals in relation to historical allegations of misconduct while working with presenter Gregg Wallace on one of our shows."

It does also say that they received a complaint in 2018 about Impossible Celebrities but they didn't do 'f*** all' they took action.

The BBC have had well deserved criticism for the likes of Saville, Hall, Harris and Edwards but I'm not sure you can accuse them of doing f*** all on this occasion!

By watching it you vindicate his behaviour, you make him commercially viable. Plenty of other cooking programmes to view

Well, despite numerous complaints to the production company and to the BBC, he was still running around with his top off talking about sex to strangers. So I guess whatever the Beeb did, it wasn’t very effective?
