No, I won't, in the same way that the old days went way too far and needed some correction, what is going on today is almost the polar opposite. The idea of a Non Crime Hate Incident is nuts. Tearing down statues rather than expanding on the history of the person eg Captain Cook tell the story "one of the best explorers and navigators in western history, but also a complete twat who by his arrogance got himself cooked and eaten". Censorship and intolerant demands for political correctness are not the answer.
This is not about Captain Cook. It's about 13 women who complained about Wallace's behaviour. Thirteen. Their voices need to be heard.

It shouldn't, what I am getting at is the shock horror of it all and the mass media coverage as if they had uncovered another Saville.
Let’s be honest, if he worked for ITV this would be getting a fraction of the coverage. The desperation of the rest of the media landscape to lob grenades at the BBC and those associated with them at every opportunity will cause anything like this to be immediately blown up into mass hysteria.

Or - and I know this might seem CRAZY - he could just apologise for anyone he's offended (in any way, shape or form), get some kind of 'help' and attempt to maintain his career and reputation?

Talk of suicide - even as a 'joke' - is stupid.
And - worst case - his tv career comes to an end, he looks at his healthy bank balance and enjoys a few rounds of golf.

I don't think that is true to be honest, it's about the high profile of the show.

This is an incredibly confused post. I've no idea what the allegations have to with non hate crimes or statues.

This is workplace behaivour issues that have dealt with on a daily basis before anyone even thought of the term "woke".

What's different in modern day production is that it's often made by third parties where all the employees are freelances who come and go or "talent" that appears as guests.

Because you don't get that continuation of staff, evidence often leaves by the revolving door.

As difficult it is to makes a complaint when you are permanently employed, it's far more difficult to make one if you after the next job.

"The lesson is painfully clear: in an era when transparency and respect are non-negotiable, failing to adapt is a surefire way to cook your career. Wallace didn’t just fail to read the room, he bulldozed through it in a rampage of cloaked misogyny, victim-blaming and the kind of reckless bravado that’s no longer forgivable in the public eye.

Gregg Wallace isn’t just another fallen celebrity; he is a cautionary tale for an industry that thrives on the illusion of likability. Wallace’s downfall isn’t some Shakespearean tale of hubris; it’s a mundane story of a man who couldn’t comprehend the times, conditions and attitudes changing drastically around him; a frog who didn’t notice that the water was getting warmer."

I don’t know. Philip Schofield worked for ITV.

They complained of bullying and harassment which is a crime. Once one had the courage to speak out, then others felt empowered to say what had happened to them.
Rather than wanting to ‘stone’ him, they want to prevent others from being treated the same way. It also sends a message to those who turn a blind eye or a deaf ear.
There are boundaries in the workplace.

What utter nonsense. This isn’t the polar opposite of anything. It’s the story of a guy who has acted (and is still acting) a compete arse, abused his position, and has finally been called out.

Well I thought your post was confused. Not sure how linking captain Cook to ‘wallace being a prick in the work place’ brings anything to the discussion. If you are trying say that the same people who pulled down statues are the ones who are going after Wallace, then you are wrong. I’ve never pulled down a statue but do think Wallace is a prick and his behaviour isn’t acceptable in the work place.

You’re old fashioned. I have already said, in this thread, I saw a male colleague escorted from the premises 30 years ago for inappropriate behaviour in the workplace.
1997 at American Express a guy was a touchy feely type of guy and touched the wife of a VP in the lift and was marched straight out of the building. I'm glad he did as I got his job! 😉

I've never watched the programme and know nothing of the individual concerned. But to some people, they think fame gives them an entitlement to abuse their position, we're seen it over and over again. People are scared to call them out.

The Beeb should suspend the programme until investigations are concluded.
