Recycled air, stuck in a steel tube, so not so bizarre. I know lots of people who have caught colds, sore throats etc after flying. I’ve flown four times in the last 2 years but wear a mask each time. They were domestic flights.
Yep, fair enough, it’s just irritating because every time I go on holiday I am fighting illness. I try and take every precaution (jabbed, face mask, plenty of fluids, even vitamin supplements before and during) but no matter what I get ill.

3 times. Never been particularly ill with it.

Worst (most annoying) time was when I spent 8 grand on a two week family holiday to Rhodes as it was the first holiday after the pandemic, so felt reasonable to splash out. I researched the best quality masks you could buy and spent about £100 on four masks for my family, and insisted we wore them for the entire flight to make sure nobody caught it on the plane. The masks were so restricting that 3 minutes into the flight my wife and both kids tore them off and said no way am I wearing those for four hours. I sat there with my mask pinned to my face, absolutely resolute in the conviction of my planning, and scolded them throughout the flight for their foolishness. ‘I’m not having my holiday ruined by Covid, I told them’ I didn’t even remove my mask to have a sip of water.

2 days into the holiday and I came down with f***ing Covid. I think I must have somehow trapped the one bit of Covid on the plane in between my mask and my mouth, and sat there breathing it in for four hours, protecting every other fucker on the plane from it.

My family were fine, of course, and had a great holiday. I didn’t.

Twats.

Never had it. Not sure how I’ve managed to swerve it, especially as both my kids tested positive over Christmas / New Year 2020 > 2021.

What I find really interesting is how symptoms vary from being absolutely knocked out and feeling like death, to mild cold symptoms, depending on the strain and the person. I’m by no means a vulnerable person, but each time I get it it’s like a sledgehammer.

Physically weak, tight breathing, nausea, sore throat, hacking cough, exhaustion.

The human body is fascinating
It is really weird. I had a cold last week and felt awful with it. Chest felt like I’d been beaten up, couldn’t stop coughing, body aches etc. Much worse than I’ve ever felt with Covid.

Why do these things exist? What is the evolutionary point of them?

Just far enough away from LDC
Had it jan 22 and may 23. 1st time took 10days to stop testing positive and felt fuzzy headed for weeks after. Second time was 5 days then felt chesty and run down for weeks after

Was really ill jan 2020 before it officially arrived in uk. Then had a heavy cold last Dec which wasn't covid but had months of coughing and tight chest. Part way through was told I'd had pneumonia and needed an inhaler. I think we will find in time that covid has caused a lot of long term damage even for people who have been jabbed.

They locked us up for this. Amazing the control they had

People were chastised when they questioned

Hindsight a wonderful thing

That's even before considering the decades of increased national debt and economic stuttering that the lockdowns have caused.

Not to mention suicides

People were mugs
Yes, the survivors often feel the measures involved weren’t worth it.

I've had it twice.

First time was brutal. Fever, savage cough, absolutely no energy.

Second time was October this year and wasn't as bad cough wise but the exhaustion I felt just moving from bed to couch and back was awful.

Have had a load of the jabs on account of my dodgy ticker.

Woke up this morning feeling like absolute shite - did a test and sure enough, COVID again. My third time despite being triple jabbed. Currently having to isolate from my vulnerable elderly Mum who I’m caring for.

How many times have you had it? Three other mates (ones I haven’t seen in person recently, but have a WhatsApp group with) all have it too, two for the first time. Is there a new strain going around or something?
The jab won't prevent it. Just reduces the severity of the symptoms.
I've had it a bunch of times & a couple have been grim. But none close to the experience of the 2 or 3 people I know who had it early on, before they'd developed a vaccine

Once that I know of because tested, caught in Lapland at the height of the Pandemic. Probably this September too. Luckily no big deal for me, just like a routine cold and no Long Covid.

I thought that being vaccinated doesn’t prevent someone being infected? Instead:
  • helps reduce your risk of getting severe symptoms
  • helps you recover more quickly if you catch COVID-19
  • helps reduce your risk of having to go to hospital or dying from COVID-19
  • protects against different types of COVID-19 virus

Twice. Once when the lockdowns were lifting and I thought is that it???

Second time two months ago and it absolutely floored me, I don’t think I’ve ever been that unwell, ever.

I've had it twice that I'm aware of ( tested), but can I assume it is only men that get this dreadful flu......and there are little, or no examples of women going down badly with it on this thread...?

Survivors lol

Give head a wobble pal
Yeah the guy who isn’t basically claiming we should have sacrificed the old and vulnerable because it inconvenienced you is definitely the one here who needs to “give their head a wobble”
