I can’t get too excited about the fact that we charge for 9 out of 11 mascots to be honest. It sounds like ok value once you include the full kit and 2 adult tickets.

I’m going to guess that most posters on here never got to be mascots growing up and survived the hardship. Therefore I don’t think the club should feel any obligation to do this for free given the amount of good work AITC (or whatever it’s called now) does for local causes, and at the end of the day it still owes one bloke 350m.

My point is that a kid and his parents from the wrong side of the tracks (poor) have the same opportunity as the businessman’s kid.
It is a fair point, but there is an argument against that as well though. If it is free then the big 6 fan who goes to the Amex a few times a season and enters his kid into the ballot so he can run out with Mo Sallah has as much chance as the parents from the wrong side of the tracks who are lifelong Brighton fans and scrimp and save and make sacrifices for season tickets every year, who’s kid’s lifetime dream is to run out with Lewis Dunk. That’s not a palatable situation either.

Isn’t that the point? Only for the wealthy 🤦
Indeed. Suck it up. It’s life, and I see no one subsidising ST’s because of player pay. Can’t afford? Stay home. Can’t be a mascot because parents not wealthy enough? Tough. That’s life!

Selection rather than the money side …. have an Albion criteria, then genuinely random ballot.

My lad did the Mascot package just before COVID. It was absolutely fantastic and worth every penny. Think I paid £220 but for that you got full kit, seat in the West (plus adult one to go with it if memory serves), trip round the museum, photos and an experience he will remember for life.

He walked out with Davy Propper. Dan Burn and would you believe Troy Deeney (we were playing Watford) who were both equally great with the kids.

I've spent a lot of money on a lot of shit Albion experiences over the years. That wasn't one of them. Given I'd paid £200 not long before that for him and his mates to go to a soft play centre (I did get free orange squash with that) I know what I consider the better value of the 2.
the kit would be £90-100 alone (still think its a rip off) but i can see your argument regards value. It's all relative isn't it.

Home games must produce £1m plus dont think it would be much That Albion Junior members should have this for free. If giving something away free would give PB a heart attack charge them cost price for the shirt

I guess there are way too many grey areas for the club to get involved in that though. Who decides what is an ‘Albion criteria’? Where do you draw the line.

I think charging for it is fine, but maybe they should shift the ratio from 2 free and 9 paid to 5 free and 6 paid. I think that would be fair.

So, i have paid for both my boys to be mascots at the Amex. You get the full kit (£100) , 2 tickets (£60) food vouchers (£20) and a program (£3).

Both kids did it when i paid and both kids were then selected at a later date to to be mascots for away games (Brentford for my eldest, and B'muff last Saturday for my youngest lad)

The club also (Or it used to) gives away at least 2 free mascot places picked at random for each league game per season.

I think the £250 i paid for my son to be mascot for THAT Chelsea game was worth every penny. My son walked out with Mitoma on his home debut and that was one of the best days of his childhood. I'm lucky i can afford it but i think it's pretty good value for what it is.

The women packages are nearly all sold out as well.
I’m sure some of our players would much rather walk out hand in hand with a woman than a small child:)

on and the away mascot is picked at random (From kids that are attending the game) and you get full kit, program, meet the players etc. I have to say B'Muff were excellent with my boy. After being mascot for Chelsea and B'Muff wins perhaps he should get to do it more often :ROFLMAO:

Did it last season. Pricey? Undoubtedly - but the memories are priceless.

(Having said that, I did find the shorts a little on the snug side).

I bought the captains package for my daughter when she was 11, it was in the championship at home game against Reading. It was a Christmas Present as she had always wanted to be a mascot. At the time I think there were two free picked out of young seagulls members and two captain packages that could be purchased. She had been in Gullys Gang since 3 days old and then seagulls member but was never picked, so I thought as time was running out, so paid for it. I remember it not being cheap at the time.

She got to walk out with Gordon Greer And her favourite player was Andrea Orlandi at the time.

she had a great time, so I am pleased she got to do at age she remembers it.

This stood out for me on Chailey's post earlier

Ridiculous that 7-year old's who are over 18 are excluded from this. Luckily my son is still 7, so this is a good reminder for me - I'm going to join him up before he turns 8 so I can get that shirt

;) If you know, you know

The ‘dark side’ of the club (that I love) is that they have lost touch with their community roots in a disappointing way. Making mascot opportunities only for the wealthy is an example. Very significant reductions in funding for, for example, our disability teams is another. The PR says one thing but the reality is different. AITC is not what it was in the Withdean days.☹️
