If I was going to have a dabble it would either be Mark Robins or Lee Carsley.
Both based locally, both recently out of work & both play nice football which is obviously something the Leicester board want if they’ve sacked Cooper out of the blue.

There were reports he was in line for the job at Deportivo La Coruna. But they’ve confirmed Óscar Gilsanz, who originally took over as caretaker manager, will remain in charge until the end of the season.
Carsley isn’t out of work. He’s going back to his role as manager of the U21s now his time as interim manager of England is over. Not sure he’d give that up for the Leicester job?

My guess is that Van Nistelrooy will go to Leicester and Potter will be the next West Ham manager with Lopetegui on borrowed time there

Obviously I am projecting here but I think he could think why not, give it a go, and actually take the Liecester job. What has he got to lose? He is loaded so it doesn't really matter.

Ah Deportivo who had a few halcyon years challenging Real and Barcelona and going deep in Europe before crashing. I used to follow them back in the day, probably because they played in blue and white stripes.
We are now emulating their unexpected challenge to the big boys, hope the end is not the same!

Anything that contributes to reducing Potters screen time gets my vote. This will also reduce the risk of a boot to telly collision in my lounge. Punditry is definitely not his bag.

It’s not out of the question. I doubt they would fetch much of a fee at all in Jan. I’d like to keep Lamps personally. Btw Bobby D-Reid played for them yesterday so isn’t out. I think both would do well at a lower PL team like Leicester.

Didn’t Deportivo go absolutely berserk with their transfer fees, and almost bankrupt themselves? I think was around the time Leeds were doing the same, they had one really good finish and went all in trying to replicate it. I might be thinking of someone else though!
I think Robins is a good shout due to the fact he has played for them and is due a crack at the Premier League at some point.
The timing works too. Leicester will surely not be buying a manager out of their contract so they need someone who is currently not managing. Perhaps his sudden recent availability triggered the axe for Cooper?

However, I still think Potter is the favourite. I think he had his eye on the England job and whilst under the pay of Chelsea, he was happy to trundle along turning down other opportunities. But the Leicester job is probably his best opportunity to return to the Premier League for the time being. His Premier League experience surely puts him above most other unemployed candidates and his team will play football the way Leicester fans will want to see rather than say, Moyes.
I really like him as a person and a player (wing back or winger). But I don’t think the club can offer a contract to someone with his injury record.

They won the league in 1999-00. They then finished 2nd, 2nd, 3rd and 3rd before dropping down to mid table. After that they’ve yo-yo’ed a bit before going into a huge decline which saw them 1 game from being relegated to the Spanish 4th tier a few seasons ago.

My bet is that they're going to have to go with someone with no PL experience and who can't get another PL gig.
Doing like Cooper and moving there to get sacked after doing a great job doesn't seem like the best career move for anyone who can get the Palace or West Ham gig.

Apparently in the 67 Premier League games that Steve Cooper has managed the only grounds to witness him win a game are the City Ground, St Mary's, Stamford Bridge and the King Power Stadium. He's won more games at Southampton's ground than he did at Leicester's.

I saw him in Hove Waitrose the other day wearing a brand new Canada Goose jacket. The price label was practically still on. He looked like a complete twat. Although that isn't hard for him in fairness.
