Society got more angry post pandemic. That dog eat dog culture the Tories cultivated during lockdowns never really went away. It’s not just men, there are a lot of women often young women lots of rage just waiting to unload on some poor man or woman.
There’s rage everywhere you’re right. Can blow up out of nowhere or nothing as the OP experienced. I had a 12 year old girl once start on me whilst out walking my dog. Screaming abuse across the road at me I had to look round to check it was me rather than another kid she was directing at. Then ran across road to get in my face about looking at her. I marched her and her friends into the nearby school and ended up getting an apology from / child put in detention for a week etc. Kid turns out to be from broken home, expelled from last 532 schools for bad behaviour blah blah blah. Probably been stabbed since by a peer. Not right in the head for a 12 year old girl to want to pick a fight with a man in his 40s twice her size! So aggressive, no filter, so angry, but so very ‘today’ unfortunately!

Which trade is he?
I have a bunch of mates in different trades and I love the way they all ‘hate’ each other, like the Popular front of Judea sketch in Monty Python. It’s most amusing, I never fail to giggle the way they’re rude about each other down the pub or on a job. But recommend each other to customers if after a plumber, sparky, chippy, decorator, plasterer etc.

That's awful and is similar to a situation I experienced this morning on a trip to Lewes.

I was walking with Mrs PGTips along a pedestrian area. Yes, there is a cobbled section down the middle that vehicles use - but we were on the pavement. A Royal Mail van came along and swung onto the pavement (there's no kerb) and was so unbelievably close to my wife she had to quickly step out of the way. The van pulled up right by me and so when he opened his door I said to him about being careful of pedestrians. I did not swear or raise my voice. He glared at me and said he'd indicated and we shouldn't have been walking on the road. Errr ... it's not actually a road and we were actually on the pavement section anyway. He asked what my problem was and I repeated he'd nearly taken my wife out. His reply ... word for word ... "If I had, she'd be splatted all over the floor'. I was abolutely shocked. I stood there and he then got close and towered over me asking if "I wanted something". He was a young chap around 30 ish (I'll be 63 next month) ... over 6ft I'd say compared to my 5' 7". Another older gent who'd heard what what was going on came over to check I was OK and guided me away. Driver then got some parcels out of his van and headed off. Trousers half way down his arse ... very scruffy. Very odd he was driving a Royal Mail van as he didn't look like a Royal Mail employee.

Basically, he was just a nasty bully. I hate nasty bullies :(
I hope you got his registration and reported him to Royal Mail.

That dickhead electrician @Justice and myself enjoy a bit of good humoured piss taking out of each other and our trades on here.

Well if they'd sweep up after themselves we wouldn't do it..

If there's a brightside it's that you've got your stuff in your new place and tomorrow that bloke will wake up and still be an 'orrible c**t.
True! Thanks.

There really are some awful people about Kevo and I’m sorry to hear about your experience. I was at a petrol station and a bully type fella was chucking his weight about with a straight going family man who had his kids in the car the latter was trying to defuse it all but received a clump to the back of his head as he turned to go into the shop to pay
Big mistake but the bully and he ended up on the floor in a nasty looking choke hold/arm bar and tapped out pretty lively. The family lad had a Grand Union BJJ sticker on his rear window🤣🤣 saw the bully paying and couldn’t help but to ask him if he could see that coming…..sometimes they come unstuck

My partner and her colleague (both occupational therapist's) are allowed to park on double yellow lines when visiting patients. Couple of weeks ago they parked outside a house in Hove, the owner who looked in his seventies, came flying out telling them to move. After they told him they were allowed to park there, he got in his car and started reving the engine a pushing his bumper against there's. Then his wife and kids came out to continue the abuse. Bare in mind they're in their NHS uniform visiting his neighbour!
I told her with any luck the winter will kill him.

Your other half should’ve called the police.

I bet the curtain twitchers home stinks of over boiled cabbage.

I’m one of the nice ones :bigwave:
We had a nice tradesmen who came round today to fix my broken 3 way valve attached to the boiler which decided to shit itself in sub zero temperatures.

He is commonly known in these parts as "Shagger" Matt due to his reputation for servicing more than the boiler when he comes round.

The wife seems very happy this evening.

I’m really sorry this happened to you, mate.

All you can do - and indeed should do - is get the message out there in a factual way, being mindful of defamation, via review sites like Google Reviews, Checkatrade, Facebook groups and the like.

You may wish to just drop it and it’s entirely your choice, but I’m like an angry dog with a bone when I’m legitimately wronged like you were in this case, so I’d be doing the above speaking personally.

It must be hard being 'tarred by the same brush'. To be fair, I know a lot of decent, honest and friendly trades people too. Unfortately, it's the c***s we tend to remember.
That show rouge traders made the public distrust tradesmen in general.
I dare say there's more rouges in a lot of other industries

Years ago, I was actually truly scared when a guy rammed my car on purpose and the went to the boot of his car. The car had rammed into the driver door so I could not do anything. He grabbed a crowbar and smashed it through my window. I seriously thought he had got a shotgun out. He then legged it. I got my wife out of the passenger seat and jumped over and tried to get at him, by now in his car. The **** locked himself in the car. Fortunately there was a police bike, 20 yards up the road and another guy that stopped and witnessed everything...

He got f*** all in court and I saw him down by the pier one day. I wanted to kill him but luckily I left it. Absolute ****...

I'm 5'6 and have never ever backed down from a confrontation. Which leads me to another story at a later date.

This was in 1990.

I can’t think of any bad trades people I’ve met recently, I do work on my own but sometimes other trades work in the same properties as I do.
I did work on building sites 20+ years back and most people seemed to get on with each other or minded their own business.

Already done that. She says she won't use him again. So at least he's lost some business.
And I need a contractor too. He's definitely lost mine! 😀

Most people who do stuff are great. People who fix stuff whether it's in trades or IT or whatever gets a sense of achievement out of doing it.

The talentless management layer above is where the wankers tend to live.

It's a horrible thing to happen, but you're right to call it out and right to back off when you did, complete wankers are thankfully rare.

We really shouldn't put up with this shit and if you're confident enough, push it. A lot of us aren't the size of @Muhammad - I’m hard - Bruce Lee but will still not put up with this. It's always happened and Mrs Wz has spent the last 30 years thinking I'm going to get stabbed, beaten to a pulp etc. But if this sort of shit, from teenagers shouting expletives around families to young physical bullies trying to intimidate old people (I'm 64) is allowed without being called out, it will continue.

I've had to back off, many times.

But address it, and back off as you did, don't just accept it

If I suddenly stop posting, it appears Mrs Wz was right
