he refers to Congress, or specifically Republicans in Congress. they'd have to change the constitution. they don't particularly like him so pretty certain they won't try, and if they did wouldn't have the support to change.
You seem to be assuming that logic and normality will apply going forward and that everything will be OK because of the guardrails that have always been in place.

I think you/we may be in for quite a few horrible surprises in the next 4 years - not all of which will come to fruition, but some will.

Understand that after the furore surrounding RFK health dept nomination, Trump has gone back to his original first choice pick:

Absolute sleazebag , Matt Gaetz, withdraws from nomination for Trump’s AG

He says he’s withdrawing to help Trump‘s transition team focus on getting appointments through without the media distraction - however we all can safely assume I think that he was running scared that his sexual misconduct investigation would be made public and was under pressure from senior Republicans to withdraw to avoid the mess.

Anyway, a good sign that Trump‘s power isn’t completely unfettered within the Republican Party.

Trump won't like that.

Can just picture him crying into his McFlurry

On NSC for over two decades...
He's going to get away with everything isn't he.

Why wouldn't he? They now have a well established two-tier system of justice where presidents and former presidents are allowed to whatever they like with only the minor inconvenience of bad publicity.

Trump will be able to say he is no longer a convicted felon. All the other cases will fall by the wayside when he pardons himself in January.

After all the negative comments about Trump posted on this thread, this comes as a bit of a surprise as I thought we'd burned our bridges. And I don't think @Bozza 's new username is fooling anyone. Does he hope to replace Musk as the new "First Buddy"

For everyone wondering about why people in the US think/vote the way they do, this article explains a lot.

The key survey findings, though:

'Here are some of the percentages that Americans (on average) think their fellow citizens are:

Transgender: 21 percent
Muslim: 27 percent
Jewish: 30 percent
Black: 41 percent
Live in New York City: 30 percent
Gay or lesbian: 30 percent'

There has been similar disinformation in this country particularly during the London Mayoral elections saying the city was now only 20% white etc etc.
Listings of Muslim mayors, which included Manchester Leeds & Sheffield, all of whom were white.

It’s creating fear and division.

I will be interested to see how things develop over there, as it will probably inform our own politics in one or two term’s time. (We generally catch whatever venereal disease America is currently scratching)

Labour may only have the length of this parliament to show progress. I don’t see them necessarily being returned if the ship hasn’t been noticeably turned around.

I fear political timidity, posturing around the edges of problems instead of taking significant action. Failing to act now will leave us wide open to populism at the next election. Already it feels to me as though Labour are at risk of getting bogged down.

My hope is that they’ve front-loaded all the bad news, and will be able to provide brighter prospects in years 2,3 and 4.

The US is now planning a concentration camp in southern Texas where they will send immigrants before they are expelled over the border. The National Guard will be rounding up deportees.

This is why he was so keen to win the election.

And really REALLY stupid people!

You're not allowed to call people stupid for believing this kind of easily fact checked bullshit.

I am being facetious of course because people that believe this nonsense aren't stupid* but I struggle to understand why people don't bother to do a little research.

It matters.

*Its those that do research and still believe this kind of crap that are stupid.

Shock, horror…

Yes I agree, not a particularly good look is it. First there was Trump pardoning his son in law's father and all his rich pals and now Biden pardoning his son. Hopefully the next President will show much better judgement.... Oh....

Pretty sure Trump would have pardoned him anyway. But his father is still a liar.
