[Albion] If Ferguson is now worth £51m, maybe Hürzeler might consider letting him play?

After his performance tonight we'd be lucky to get £51
He's never going to be a striker that thrives in playing counter-attack football with a team that has 25% possession. Its just not the type of player he is. He is a traditional, service-requiring striker that has no business chasing stray long balls. He's never going to look good in circumstances like that.

Indeed.

Were Harland Irish he'd have been anonymous yesterday.

Sounds like it could be true though.. no surprise whatsoever if he’s fed up with his game time because he’s basically not getting any time at all - nor likely to short of injuries.

I know you were referring to one specific game but generally he doesn’t need to ‘look good’ to impress anyone, just do what the gaffer is wanting from him - FH knows what he can do from watching him in match videos from 2023 and I guarantee he’s not expecting him to play in a style that doesn’t naturally fit - that goes against FHs whole ethos.

As I said above Ferguson’s a true 9 and part of the issue for him has been our midfield but with Rutter and Baleba playing superbly in recent weeks, that’s only going to get better.

Baleba’s long ball to the foot of the 18 yard box to Pedro who provided the assist for O’Riley’s debut goal was class. Ferguson only needs to get on the end of some of those passes from the MF and he’s a potential tap in .

Apart from the MF problems we’ve had, Ferguson has been very poor in finishing that needs to improve and is nothing to do with whether we are counter attacking or not - it has more to do with player confidence and mentality. In fact counter attacks don’t feature very highly in our overall scoring stats anyway.

The pass from Baleba was to Welbeck who gestured to play it to him a few seconds earlier when he had his back to the centre back. It was the pass back to Pedro and Danny’s immediate sprint into the box that took two covering defenders away, leaving the space for Pedro’s great through ball to O’Riley. That’s Fergusons problem in a nutshell. It‘s a catch 22, Ferguson won’t get the minutes on the pitch to build up these instinctive relationships unless theres an injury god forbid, but the crammed schedule before Xmas might give him those opportunities to start.

Don‘t you just love these threads where the OP drops a contentious question, but doesn’t contribute anymore to the thread, let alone offer their own opinion?
I recon that if you cannot contribute meaningfully to a thread you've started, you should be banned.

It's like writing shite on a wall and running away.

Ok there was an extra pass in there to Welbeck before Pedro’s assist - I should have watched it again before commenting but the point is, it was Baleba’s direct pass from the oppo’s MF that serviced the ball to the strikers - imo it was the sort of play forward we saw a lot of from Mackie A. and that Ferguson can get on the end of without having to drop too deep out of his comfort zone or have to chase hoof balls from our own half.

On what I’ve seen of Evan this season, he is not good enough or hungry enough to get into the current team. The difference in his application to Welbz is a chasm imo. The Ireland game against England was really disappointing to me, yes I know he got no service but he chased nothing except when he had a chance to run onto a through ball. Just a gut feeling but it seems to me he has an attitude problem

I expect more fire in the belly from him.
