West is BEST
Wolf Hall, after a 9 year gap, season 2 has started. Excellent again.

But you can’t binge watch ahead, just one episode available.
Was watching Firebrand (new film set in the same period) and when it finished I was thirsty for more Henry VIII action.

Then I discovered WH was back. Excellent.

One episode at a time is a good way to watch this too I think. It’s very dense and rich .

Good point, very long episodes and intense.

We watched series 1 this week (the last time was in 2015!) as a recap and because it’s great viewing.

Just binged 'Cheaters'

18 x 10 minute episodes about 2 sets of couples and their cheating ways ( different partners not cheating at cards)

Excellent scripts, casting and chemistry well recommended
Thanks for the recommendation, it was great! Funny as, just wished it had ended slightly differently or went on to a second series.

Another good one is, Alma is not Normal, very funny. 2 seasons.

We’ve had Welsh-language crime dramas in recent years, so why not Irish/Gaelic?

Crá, a new Irish-language crime drama is starts tonight on BBC iPlayer and BBC Northern Ireland.

A murder investigation begins when Garda Barry Roche (Alex Murphy) finds a body buried in the bog. In the most personal of cases, Garda Conall Ó Súilleabháin (Dónall Ó Héalai) discovers it is his mother, Sabine, who has been missing for 15 years.

Conall is forbidden from working on the case, but is drawn into the investigation by a determined young journalist Ciara-Kate (Hannah Brady), who is using her true-crime podcast to expose the village’s deepest secrets.

The power of modern media is revealed as every twist and turn of the investigation is broadcast to a growing audience through Ciara-Kate’s podcast.

As Conall and Ciara-Kate unravel the truth, they must confront a close-knit community bound by silence and its own moral codes. Will truth prevail or do some secrets stay buried forever?

Supporting Dónall, Alex and Hannah are a talented ensemble including Barry McGovern, Róisín Murphy, Tara Breathnach, Caoimhe Farren, and Alan Mahon.

The splendid story of Maurice Flitcroft who holds the record for the worst score in Open golf championship history. His obituary read:
"Maurice Flitcroft ... was a chain-smoking shipyard crane-operator from Barrow-in-Furness whose persistent attempts to gatecrash the British Open golf championship produced a sense of humour failure among members of the golfing establishment"
Mark Rylance plays Flitcroft and is superb as always. Great stuff.

Yep, watched that a while ago. Entertaining underdog story, a 'comfort' movie. Had a bit of a read up about him after watching the film. Great stuff indeed.

Great film and remarkable story.
If you liked this, watch the greatest game ever played
It's on Disney+ but I thought I would mention it as it is on similar lines to this.

Saw the film version of Tinker with Gary Oldman as Smiley, it was nice and compact, the 1982 series looks like its 3 episodes too long.

The film is like watching the Ladybird book of the Bible. It's crap.

Really good, strong enough storyline and wonderful scenery.

I saw this thread had re-surfaced and I thought "Ah! Must give a shout-out for Alma's not Normal"

Yes, excellent series. Very funny. Will probably offend some, which of course is part of its appeal. (And Ludwig fans it's written by and starred Sophie Willan, who played Holly Pinder)
