So you’re fine with eggplant then?

Cilantro is what the herb is called in Spanish, and it’s used in a lot of Mexican cuisine, so that’s fair enough. Zucchini is close to the Italian Zucchina - also fair enough considering Italian immigration to US. Bay-zil does sound silly - give you that.

Eggplant though, that’s just ridiculous, and so much uglier sounding than aubergine.

It’s eggplant as must aubergines used to be white and round rather than purple and long so looked like eggs.
