I have an op next month for a Catheter Ablation. The below explains better than I can, what they'll be doing for me.

During the procedure, a doctor makes a small cut in the groin and inserts thin tubes called catheters into the femoral vein
Guides the catheters through the blood vessels to the heart using X-rays
Records the heart's electrical activity to pinpoint the source of the arrhythmia
Destroys the affected tissue using heat, cold, or electrical impulses

Hopefully I can get back to some normality with my running next year.

Sounds good treatment to get. Hope it all goes well for you and they destroy the target. 👍

Seaford sorted my time yesterday to the correct 21:54 SB. I duly stagger above @big nuts in the table.
@penny's harmonica is now in the table and @Greg Bobkin SB has been added.
Seaford was not as quick a course as I thought. Pebbles on the lower prom meant cutting through a bike barrier and running up a small but noticeable hill. Maybe the course usually stays on the seaside of the wall?

Good to see your back on form, great run on Saturday.
Being back on the table has given me the incentive to go out in the freezing cold today which is fun and do some interval training which really isn’t.

Am I the only one that does bad runs when all the right preparation goes to pot on the actual run? 🤣

No, I've had a few occasions where it's all gone to shit on the day, but not for a while. Back then I had time targets that I wanted to hit – nowadays I don't, which makes the whole thing much more relaxing!

The worst thing used to be not actually knowing WHY it went wrong – there are probably posts on this thread of me trying to figure out the reasons behind bad runs.

My best half is 1.36 something (Brighton, about 10 years ago probably - think it was the last one I did) if you want to pop that in when you're next updating

I'm on the volunteer crew at Hove Prom this week if any of you are down there. Dunno what I'm doing yet but it's not pacing. Farnham Pilgrim marathon on Sunday - had a slightly niggly calf this week as I have been trailling some orthotics to help get rid of a bit of metatarsalgia (nothing dramatic, hasn't stopped me running) but will still rock up I think. It's a beautiful race - fabulous scenery over the North Downs, Loseley estate etc and really well organised. Think there are 12 aid stations !
Wondering if I have Metatarsalgia (which is how I come to be quoting a seven-year-old post.

Pain in the ball of my foot that extends into the middle two toes. I was running with it as it would take a few miles before it occurred, but the pain was happening earlier and earlier, so I stopped to give it a rest and, hopefully, recover.

Five or six weeks on, and the pain is still there at times, although it has improved. I'm still walking a fair bit - c8 miles a day, but it doesn't hurt when I walk, unless I happen to stand on a rock/stone directly under the ball of my foot such that it's taking my full weight.

Does this sound like Metatarsalgia? I'm at the point where I think I'm just going to pay for someone to take a look.

Could well be……podiatrist will confirm pretty quickly……

Bloody Worthing!
Am still in the land of the living. It seems a long time since I was posting park runs in the mid 80% AG region.
Have been gradually getting slower and plagued by various injuries. I go into the 70-74 age cat just after Xmas and am realising why there is a big drop off in the quantity and quality of runners around this time. (Flipping this into good news is that if you are still upright you can pick up some easy wins!)
Anyway, great to see some familiar names in the league table and even better to see some unfamiliar ones.

Good that long term rival knocky has got some form back and still curates the thread to great effect.

Am hoping to limp through into 2025 and my new age cat.......

Just saying hello on my occasional visit to NSC. I did the STE Tunnel Marathon at the weekend and it was a blast. Bizarrely 91 laps of the same tunnels for 5.5 hours was not mentally not as bad as 11 round Goodwood but I wish I trained more (as always).

I will probably do Darkstar 10k and the Pier Marathon next in terms of organised runs.

Trying to make a decision on the SDW50 or even 4x50 miler slam. It's not the races but the training that I am hesitating on...

Anyway, happy running one and all.

Fair play on the tunnel mara – it looked pretty daunting to me! I'm really pleased for Jay and the boys because it seems to have got quite a bit of coverage, which is great news. Hoping to get into Darkstar, but I might be away...

I'm with you on the training – life seems to be too hectic to dedicate enough time to serious and regular long runs. Maybe in 2025.

Annual Mince Pie 10 this morning in pretty horrendous conditions - very strong northerly and lots of mud to contend with.
Struggled after a Christmas Party yesterday and came home in 1:28. The course had changed a bit and is now a tad over 10 miles, but I can’t blame this for being around 10 minutes slower!

In other news ran Lloyd parkrun in Croydon yesterday - a full on mud fest cross country course in Storm Darragh - got to wonder why I do some of these things 😀

Just back from doing the Christmas Eve 5-mile road run that the gym I go to organises every year, with about 100 or so other runners.

This year was special for me as I ran it with my 15-year old daughter and my 13-year old son for the first time. What made it especially special is that they spend Christmas Eve night and Christmas Day with their mum - so this was our time together, on a beautifully crisp mid-winter morning with the mist laying across the fields.

Officially my best Christmas ever and one I’ll never forget, no matter what happens from here on in.
