The interesting thing about this is that before this I found him probably the most dislikable EPL ref and yet he’s probably turned out to be the most fragile and vulnerable.

Originally I thought he’d been stitched up by one grass who got lucky on an “afters”. Looks a lot more sinister now.

Absolutely no one to blame but himself.

Odd post. I'm wondering if you've misunderstood the point the poster was making. He was merely stating he hopes the guy is doing ok MH wise from this. We've seen some pretty horrible examples of people at the centre of a media storm not coping well in recent times

He's going to lose his job, will be hounded by the press and will surely be feeling pretty horrendous he's thrown away his career through some silly actions.

Not sure why someone hoping he is ok mentally, during what's going to be a really horrible time (whether that's self inflicted or not),is something to be picked up on.
No, I got it.

I'm merely pointing out that there might not be reason to be 'very concerned for his mental health right now' at all. The guy could've just facked up big time and now has to deal with the consequences.

People in all walks of life are dealing with all sorts of horrendous things of varying degrees (the Bobkin family included). Stuff that would render a story about a man slagging off another man, taking drugs and hanging out with hookers (all allegedly (possibly)) totally insignificant.

If he's got serious problems, that's another story and hopefully he'll get help. But it's equally just as likely that he's got too big for his boots.

We don’t know in this case do we but playing the MH card can turn disappointment and anger into sympathy and justification. Actions have consequences.

I agreed. He’s been a total plum. But I have a far lower view of the person who has published all of this. What sort of **** would do this?

I understand what you’re saying but I think it says more about Coote that he put himself in this position in the first place. And I guess we don’t know if something happened between the parties concerned that triggered the release of the videos. Maybe that will come out later.

I’m not disputing anything regarding Coote. But at the end of the day it’s only a few disparaging comments and come class As. Regardless of whatever happened between him and the video owner, I think it’s pretty low to publish it. It’s low and snide.

He’s been an idiot but I feel sorry for Coote. The guy is being destroyed by a drip feed of news and the Sun are up to their usual scum bag tactics. At the end of the day he’s called someone a swear word and done some gear. Hardly crime of the century.

I think there are two things here.

- he has caused issues for his profession and I supported the fa/pgmol stance when others were saying it was being blown out of proportion

- he is having his entire life now shredded on public

I support due process in the former but the latter sickens me and I am worried for him. Whether it's the same person with each disclosure or others cashing in while they can, it feels grubby and the worst of victorian style freak shows

He'd fit right in at every away end in the country.

The man runs around in a pair of shorts every Saturday for his job, he’s hardly King Charles. He’s a normal bloke who takes cocaine sometimes. Let’s not lynch him. Some bloke today didn’t get prison for distributing newborn baby porn, and I know which one we’ll still be talking about in 6 months time ! Make your jokes but let it die a death.
