I think it's quite sad people have become so points obsessed. Especially when any member could get tickets for Marseille and quite a few did for Rome as well.

Yet another reason why there's been such a drop off in noise at away games. People picking a fixture to attend for admin purposes ffs, just go and support your team
Couldn't agree more, whatever happened to attending the games to support the team. The amount of people who have messaged me saying 'do you get points for woemn's games', 'do you get points for U21 games', just attend the games because you want to, not this never ending nonsense of points.

As I said earlier, without school age kids/ wanted to at least pretend I cared re not taking them out for too long, I would have elongated my stay in all cities. But one night in Marseille, 2 in Amsterdam, 1 in Athens and 3 in rome/Florence (travelling late evening/overnight or morning of the game) to keep it to 2 days off school each time, was certainly an expensive way of doing it
I did 3 days for each and everywhere was fantastic, taking in the city at each place was amazing (well except for one of them obviously). I think I had the mindset we'd never do it again, so have to enjoy that. I expect most of us will be chasing the high of that Marseille game for the rest of our lives.

Not only that but the Marseille game was NOT a sellout! Something that i still find incredible, our FIRST competitive game in europe and anyone who wanted to go could have obtained a ticket. I know the club did not help with their dire warnings, but still........
I was in 'all sth' tier for Roma and easily got a ticket.

I have always been happy with easyjet (athens from lgw was 90% bha fans). But I used vueling to florence/rome. That is and will forever be a very last resort. Mind you not tried wizzair yet and those who flew with them to Athens may not do so again unless desperate either
Easyjet are fine, rarely had any issues with them and when I have it's been simple to resolve.

My Albion+ member here. I got the ticket for Marseille easily and Rome the day before the game. Ajax and Athens I sat in the home end as: 1.) Amsterdam was the easiest to get to and probably the favourite and 2.) Athens had a really small allocation. Had we had 500 more tickets I probably would’ve got one in the away end.

Realistically, IF we got in the UCL, those games should mean higher allocations anyway. Plus don’t forget there’s also the chance we also play another English team.

We wouldn’t face a team from England in the league stage as teams from the same National FA are still kept apart. I’m not sure if the new format has changed things for the knockout stage but if it still follows the same rules as previously we’d not be able to face another English team until the QF stage.

Still only 5% of the ground in UCL. It all hinges on who you get and the capacity of the ground. Exciting to see where we end up come the end of May!

Fair point. Even better then for chances on getting tickets.

I don't think there is that much more chance of getting tickets than last season to be honest, certainly not a significant increase anyway unless we face one of the very big clubs and that would likely be just 1 match out of the 4 away games.

Take Aston Villa for instance (and assuming a strict 5% allocation) this season their ticket allocation for the away games are RB Leipzig (2050), Club Brugge (1453), Young Boys (1600) and Monaco (818). I can't see us having any issues shifting those numbers for a Champions League away day.

No, I was behind the driver (who, I'm sure is reading this with a smile on his face as it's become a recurring joke).
Did the driver manage to successfully locate the M25 on the way back though, as opposed to, say, accidentally continuing on the M1 into north London?

Just out of interest, what did you have against French trains?
Nothing at all but it never occured to me how cheap and easy to use they are. Paris to Barca and Barca to Madrid only last month following our €30 Lille to Marseille trip. As mentioned elsewhere, Spain have opened up the Barca/Madrid high speed line to Ouigo who charge €9. Eurostar should do the same for the tunnel.

Flew to Paris last month with Vueling. Used a catapult at Gatwick with enough strength to get across the Channel and glide into Orly. In truth they were the best price and decent time. No different to EasyJet coming home.

I know their home fixtures are much better, but if I was a Villa fan I'd be gutted about those away games. I reckon that all four of our Europa aways were better draws than any of those four.

From a personal point of view if it was us playing those fixtures I'd be interested in going to both Brugge (it's like a f***ing fairytale) and Monaco (after selling a kidney) but although not as appealing as those games we had in Athens etc I'd still say we'd shift those numbers fairly easily.

We'd 100% sell out all four, probably all at STH level. But when you have the possibility of the Bernebeu, Westfalenstadion and San Siro etc, I reckon Leipzig being your biggest away feels a bit shite

Couldn't agree more, whatever happened to attending the games to support the team. The amount of people who have messaged me saying 'do you get points for woemn's games', 'do you get points for U21 games', just attend the games because you want to, not this never ending nonsense of points.
The thing is, it's not like people going to a game they might otherwise miss, are not supporting the team.

They're just, errrr, supporting them a bit more than usual in the hope of being able to support them again in the future.

You hoity toitys atop the loyalty point pyramid need to remember where you came from - the murky world of the Tier 2 ticket scramlble.

Surely encouraging people to go away and support the team is a good thing ?
