There’s more to it than that. Time keeping, behaviour, attitude, team player, ability and willingness to learn/change, etc, etc can all be investigated and considered from observations, discussions with former team mates, etc. Face to face meetings are part of the process.
Yep, and all analysed as data.

No dickheads would be a judgement made by the club after meeting with surely? Unless public domain like a Barton
You can a whole ton of relevant info before any actual meeting takes place…….one of the first things I did when hiring was find someone I trusted who knew the ‘target’ (or by extension, someone who knew someone) precisely to flush out any likely NDP troublers. It was always pretty easy, most industries are pretty small in real terms and it’s easy to find stuff out.

That line stood out for me too. The stuff later in the article saying that Bloom thinks data is better than humans seems a stretch to make it more of a story.

Considering how many of our recruitment team have gone to other clubs - and how close some of our scouts may have been to them - perhaps we're just protecting our data and list of targets. We always say that everything is on a 'need to know basis' when looking at players but must be hard to prevent information from leaking out.
A fairly reliable source who gave me the news about Levi coming on loan says KDH was in the building and info was leaked, so you maybe near the mark here.

Indication fron TB that unless there is emergency no new players in nextg 2 windows. Plus I read U18s have there biggest ever squad. Maybe PB has pursuade TB that he should save money for 2 years
That's a leap, isn't it?

This is a non story that has only been given exposure because it can be tied to our often-talked-about recruiting process and obvious success.

What's really been said?

- three staff (probably scouts, though this article calls them "recruitment scouts" whatever that is) released. In a team of 5, 10, 200?
- they will be replaced.

The rest is two unnamed sources making unsupported and slightly snide comments. Possibly from the people being replaced since Brighton have declined to comment.

I'm still perplexed as to what part of the algorithm selected Locadia ???
...
Ditto Jahanbakhsh (for example). Proof I guess that firstly it doesn't always work and secondly it's always being refined. Last season of course there was also Dahoud and Fati, but then we're not 100% sure if they were Recruitment recommends or on the insistence of De Zerbi.

Mind you signing the odd dud is a good thing. Makes other clubs thinks the system isn't all that it's cracked up to be!

The algo helps primarily with identification of targets….……..it doesn’t provide everything (NDP type stuff for example) or make a decision. That can go wrong once a human gets involved

No different to the Academy really. Kids can be identified as exceptional at any age (by scouts ironically as there’s little to no data ) but very few actually make it

An Athletic article (yesterday) highlights how scouting accreditation has got ‘complicated’ and how the protection of academy assets is now paramount to the big clubs. Perhaps Albion scouts are being declined access. Perhaps the traditional scouting model is no longer fit for purpose, especially if your club is comfortable with big data and bespoke analytics. Perhaps the next big ‘advantage’ is to refine and protect scouting processes so that data is safe?

Not even news really………anything is on a ‘need to know‘ basis where Starlizard/Jamestown are concerned……and a scout wouldn’t need to see all the data that identified a potential target to able to watch him and give an assessment. Arguably better if the scout actually hasn’t seen the data - will then be watching from an unbiased perspective (whether consciously or subconsciously)

This, wouldn’t expect anything else, thought we all knew this. Jamestown consists of about three people
