It seems like pitbulls are a man-made monster purposely bred to kill and have an insatiable desire to do so. It seems like it's only a matter of time before the animal gives in to the urge to maim a child, a pet or even an adult.

What should be done with them?

Pit bulls ARE already banned in the UK.

If this is referring specifically to “American Bully XL” bred fighting dogs, they should be humanely destroyed within a set time frame (say, a year), at the owner’s expense. I would make this law.

If they are being kept in the presence of anyone under the age of 18, they should be muzzled at all times. If out in public, they should be muzzled and on a short lead at all times. Failure to do this should result in the involuntary removal and euthanasia of the dog.

Owners should be arrested as accomplices for maulings and charged with the human equivalent depending on severity (assault, GBH, manslaughter, murder) and given appropriate custodial sentences if found guilty. The law needs to be tightened in this area.

Just had to tell one of our nipper's friends why our nipper hasn't be going round her house all year.

The mother bought an XL-Bully or whatever they are called, just before end of last year. Attracted by news reports?

Without going into details (10 kids, three being 'home schooled', one after being expelled), one mustn't jump to conclusions, but...

We're not having our kid savaged. FFS.

People are strange.

I hope you won't disapprove of my small edit.

That's really sad (not what you've said) but that the parent has got a dog without even considering the physical danger to her own kids. Also sad that her kid is going to not have the opportunity to have friends round because of it. There's no excuse for getting one of these dogs that are probably more expensive than a Cockerpoo, German Shepherd or Labrador.
Don't bloody blame you, as an adult, if one of my friends got an XL Bully (not that I know anyone who would), I'd be questioning their sanity and I certainly wouldn't let my kid go round for a visit.

The daughter knows she is welcome round ours.

Despite her suboptimal home life, she's the one friend of our nipper who chats with me when she's here.

I do hope things work out for her, but the signs aren't good.

You'll be surprised about how much of an impact you welcoming her into your home will have on her. One thing my mum always said to me if she thought I was hanging out with 'wrong un's' was "don't go down to their level, drag them up to yours" rather than 'banning' me from seeing them. We weren't posh but I was allowed a glass of Liebfraumilch on special occasions! :lolol: Everyone's parents at the time used to just 'ban' people from seeing each other. I've (sort of) said the same to my kids. It's easier to keep an eye on things if friendships aren't 'banned'. I think my mum used to say it in a way that she knew I wasn't sweet & innocent but there was a trust that I wouldn't start jacking up like Sammo Mcquire & I'd 'Just Say No', unless it was alcohol, fags or a joint.

Any chance we could stop this mother further adding to the gene pool?

Strict gun control came after the Hungerford massacre.
While we have a dangerous dogs act and a few breeds banned enough people have been killed or suffered life changing injuries since then that more draconian laws seem justified.
Expanding the topic while I love dogs I wouldn't have one because I live in a small house in a town and no one's free in the day to take it out. As far as I'm concerned if you need to get dog walkers in more often than not then you shouldn't have f***ing got one.

I am a cat owner. I have a rescued cat so no history but he is extremely aggressive and violent. He will just attack me with no cause but I was warned by Raystede of his violent tendencies but as I live alone I wanted to take him on and give him a forever home. My legs and feet have been torn to shreds by the little fucker!

However, I would never let him near my grandsons. When they come to visit he is locked out in the garden; I would never take the risk. Boris - for that is his name (he was named by Raystede I hasten to add) - isn't going to do me any real harm but he could certainly do serious damage to the young grandsons.

How thick have you got to be to get a dog capable of KILLING an adult, let alone a young child?

Yes, euthanise pitbulls, particularly those of an XL variety - and do it before they kill again.
