Last night was the first time I’d had bread in a week and I still had some venison left, so I cooked up a quick chilli and onion chutney to accompany it. The venison was marinaded in a spicy shish kebab rub.

Learning from my earlier mistake, I don't think we should be posting mouth-watering pictures on here :(

Yep.

My one fewer piece of toast a day, and walking a bit quicker won't make much difference at all, certainly over a few days.

The key change for me is post-dinner. No booze and crisps have probably shaved 1,000-1,500 calories a day off my consumption, and that's a big enough change, in isolation, to get the scales moving in the right direction.
A weekly calorie reduction of 3,500 tracks roughly as losing 1lb a week so should typically see a couple of pounds a week coming off just for that adjustment 👍🏻

That rapid weight loss at the beginning of a diet is mainly water weight. Weight loss will slow after that so don't get downhearted . 1000 calories deficit per day below your maintenance, which is huge roughly loses you 2 lb per week . 1 lb per week is great .

Depends a lot on how overweight you.are of course

Bumpy beginning to be honest - my birthday was just before the start of this measuring period and many friends and family blissfully unconcerned about my round shape decided to get me loads of chocolate as presents. So I could either watch a pile of chocolate for a month or scoff it all very ASAP to get the worst damage out of the way quickly, am sure you know which option won, dear reader

Nov 1 -- 15 stone 3 pounds
Nov 8 -- 15 stone 2 pounds

It's a start!

I hear you - but I've managed to be really disciplined, as there has been a box of opened Celebrations sitting on our kitchen side for just under a week and I've not touched them! Before, I would have had a sneaky rustle to find a favourite every time I visited the kitchen!

Right I’m in. Bit late but needs must. Weighed in last night after reading this thread. I’m XXst 11lb

I had not long eaten my dinner so for the sake of round numbers my personal target for November will be to get to 00lb
Ok right on target now, weighed myself properly this morning and coincidentally now on 7lb (I wouldn’t say I’ve lost 4lb as the circumstances are different). I was gonna have a few beers today but might reduce my intake and with a full week of work ahead it’s full steam.

My diet plan is I don’t eat foods beginning with the letter C, think about it, Chips, Cheese, Crisps, Cake, Curry etc etc (yes I eat carrots, but you get the gist)

Anyway, good luck everyone, keep going.

Yeah - I know the maths - I posted earlier in the thread about cutting down my breakfast from two slices of toast to one, would be worth a pound over the course of the month.

But the flaw in what you say, in terms of pure weight loss, is it kinda assumes that weight was stable and calories in = calories out before the change.

My weight has drifted up over the last year or so, primarily due to me going from running 9 miles a day (and another 5 or so miles walking) to running 0 miles per day. So my calories in has remained around the same, but my calories out has fallen. I'm still doing c20,000 steps per day, but as a natural pig, I need to stop putting so much in my mouth to offset the reduction in cardio exercise.

So, while reducing 7,000 calories a week should lead to a 2lb weight difference, it's not necessarily a 2lb weight loss, as the "before position" may have been to gain a pound, so the "after" may be to lose a pound instead.

For me the key thing is getting into the mental zone, and i am now. I want to get back to my weight of around 12st7, and I will now, even with Christmas getting in the way!

It's the eating habits that need to change for most of us.

Having read most of this thread, the habit of evening snacks is one of the biggest devils to overcome. Add alcohol to that and it isn't just the extra calories, but the will power, to avoid the evening snacks decreases enormously for me.

Day 9: 84.45kg (13st 4lb), body fat 17.4%

Loss so far: 2.05kg (5lb)

I was slightly surprised this morning, as I expected a bit of an increase after Friday night pizza and a couple of beers.

I reckon we’re all gonna be easy to identify at the Amex later, we’ll be the emaciated, hungry looking ones 😂

Yeah, definitely.

I made sure not to buy in a few sacks of crisps when I did the shopping a couple of days ago. If they're not in the house then it takes effort to go and get them, and I'm far less likely to do that.

SE9, obviously
Fri 1 Nov - 120.3kg
Sat 9 Nov - 119.2kg

Posting now (for some unknown reason I weigh in the morning and then post it here in the evening) as trying desperately to not fall into my usual Saturday trap. It's the one day of the week when I really do miss alcohol (853 days) and snacks do fill the void. Full house with returning offspring so that'll also change the usual dynamic. Fingers crossed I can keep under 3000 calories.
