With French wine it is all so easy to be sucked in by the big labels, but for me the trick and the reward comes from uncovering gems. Take Chateuaneuf du Papes for example. Big label, big prices. But not 8 miles away is the village of Gigondas. Same climate, same soil, same terroir, same blend of grapes, and a wine worthy of absolute parallel. But literally half the price. Some absolute gems. So the reward is not just great wine itself, but also, uncovering gems and great value. Enjoy a safe and rewarding trip to Alsace.I definitely agree, I have had some cracking wine from Alsace...very much under the radar, heading out there later this month and will be sampling and stock
