Ditto. Can't imagine the exit poll is going to predict a winner at 5pm local east coast.

Shirley just some eastern states if anything?

Watching that clock take forever to click down and struggling to hold it togetherz reminds me of the last 10 minutes of our 1-0 WC2002 win v Argentina!
I just want to get a general idea of which way the wind is blowing.

Brexit night was utterly miserable before I caved in and went to bed, knowing the inevitable was going to happen. If it's looking vaguely negative, I might just turn it off, watch something else cheery and then go to bed in semi-ignorance.

Fake Melania out again 😂

It’s not even vaguely Melania, the qualifications required it seems are basically “be white and be a woman” and you get to be a fake Melania. Is that what he means by creating jobs?

CNN early preliminary exit poll stuff...

Most people very unhappy with the way things are going in the `US.
Most think America's best days are in the future.
Biden approval rating 41%.

...so nothing of merit at all.

They overhyped that somewhat!

This feels horribly like the Brexit referendum night TBH, nobody knows anything and both sides are making claims on stuff, but waking up to the nightmare scenario the next morning feels the likely outcome

This is moderately interesting in Nevada. Basically, non-affiliated voters out in force.

Was expecting more than that. I’ll give it to 23:00 then go to bed. Have stayed up for the last three US elections, but have a busy day tomorrow.

Republicans mentioned that level of unhappiness in direction of county, on campaign trail weeks ago.

Damp squib exit poll.

What time does the civil war start?

Fox are a bit more bold with calling things early even if it's for the other side. So you may get more joy there.
I don’t think anyone is going to be calling this election ‘early’ if candidates continue to be very close.

Also full exit poll results cannot be released until polling has closed in each time zone respectively - so we will only see a snapshot picture at best ie demographics and issue relevance etc until all States in each time zone have voted.

While most States the outcome will be straightforward, predicting a result on exit polls in the all important swing states is harder because the margins are much narrower.

The largest share of the electoral college vote in the swing states is Pennsylvania (where candidates are polling neck and neck) which therefore maybe be the deciding factor depending on the result of the other 6 swing States. The Pennsylvania vote could take several days with the mail in ballots in PA not even counted until tomorrow.

I am fully expecting to see legal challenges and recounts if the results are close before any MSM predicts a winner - this is a marathon not a sprint so I’m pacing my TV viewing!

TBH it’s days like these that I sort of envy those people who just don’t care about the news. Imagine how much calmer and peaceful your night’s sleep will be if the thing you care most about in the world is who’s shagging who on Strictly.
