I was in the ā€œclub can do little about itā€ camp however would it be logistically possible for the club to invent a new tier below ā€˜all ST holdersā€™ namely ā€œAlbion+ members that have been to ONE other away matchā€? Hopefully this wouldnā€™t inconvenience our northern based fans that canā€™t make every match.
Or have been to away games at more than one ground, to be strictly accurate.

We were talking to a couple of local scouse Liverpool fans in the Ship and Mitre on Saturday before the game. The ticket criteria for their European game at Girona, for tier one, is "fans who have been to the last 27 European away games". They had done.........the last 26. That should ensure no Girona fans slip into their end. :lolol:

There are loads of players comps at pretty much every away, especially the big London ones. It's never stopped us creating a good atmosphere at Arsenal or Chelsea. I wasn't there on Saturday but it sounds as though the issue was Albion STH's & Members either being Liverpool fans or passing tickets on to Liverpool fans.

Either way it's shit, and it obviously is an issue because partisan away ends are one of the last things the PL hasn't managed to sanitise. You had to admire the limbs in the Wolves end when they equalised the other week, for example. It's part of what makes English football so special.

I know a couple of City fans who don't go away any more because they sell a load of away ticket packages to tourists and it has ruined the atmosphere. This probably won't happen to us, but it really is worth lobbying the club to try to stop whatever happens at Liverpool away happening again

I do have strong opinions on it, yes. I find it infuriating in all honesty.

Donā€™t know why you are bringing up my post from Saturday mind. šŸ˜‚ I had a strict schedule which meant I couldnā€™t watch the whole match. Stop clutching at straws.
My observations on plastic fans :

Iā€™d imagine all of the kids & teenagers are solely BHAFC fans.

All plastic are undoubtedly grown men who didnā€™t realise there was a local team nearby as they didnā€™t play top flight football and werenā€™t on MotD. Or theyā€™re DFLs.

The facts theyā€™re grown upā€¦.needs no further explanation.

I do agree its not just players friends/family, theres lots of factors. I think the reason the atmosphere wasn't quite there, was because, definitely, other than the two people next to me and the family of 4 in front, there didn't seem any willingness to create any atmosphere, to the point were I was getting stared at for saying Trent Alexander Arnold wasn't very good. I think a lot didn't bother as a result of last year where it was the same with a few Liverpool fans near us, who even cheered a Liverpool goal. For example I usually go with a group of 10 or so, Saturday there was 2 of us, because the Liverpool fans have clogged up the trains to make it obstructively expensive, and that after last year couldn't be bothered with standing next to Liverpool supporters, who had the gall to argue back. The entitlement of some people (like the caller on 606), football has a bit of an edge, you don't go sitting in the away end supporting the home team. If it was any European side, or even most English sides, I don't think it would have gone down very well. Maybe its just me, but I think we should be a bit more ferocious with our support, the home support has already become quite passive, I'd like it not to go to the away support. I think it was most telling, in the last minute we had a corner, Gruda walks over geeing up the crowd, I felt like I was one of a few who actually responded, a lot of people just kind of shrugged. Two games that are a good comparison is Newcastle and Liverpool, Newcastle went right down to members, yet still had, personally I think the best away support of the season, similarly with Everton, the common denominator between those two is they aren't top 6 sides. Its a problem with Liverpool and I think there are a few reasons for that.

Well said.

So it seems the shit atmosphere is down to Mrs Veltman, Herr Gruder et al not getting pissed up and singing songs.

I donā€™t think youā€™ll find I said this. I may have said it was a flat atmosphere but I didnā€™t apportion this to anyone.

As for getting pissed up - I can only assume youā€™re making a a broad judgement on me and other fans.

There are times where you feel the need to launch an attack on others to to show what an ignorant, intolerant fool you are. Bravo.
I know you never said this. Others have said that the atmosphere was flat. You said that it seems a lot of tickets went to player's friends and family. I put 2 and 2 together. As for the 'pissed up' comment, it was a light hearted comment about away support behaviour. I'll add a smily next time so you can be sure it's not "launching an attack" on Brighton fans.

Last season at Arsenal was flat.

The players comps I do get but itā€™s a bit at odds with the Clubs loyalty policy and their statement about tickets being for fans that one ā€˜of our ownā€™ players gives tickets to that game to his Arsenal supporting extended family and friends. In the away end.

Of course they can do that but itā€™s pretty annoying.

Was decent this season, last season probably had something to do with us being schooled by them.

The Liverpool first half was some of the best football I've ever seen us play. I wasn't there so won't pass judgement but it's a shame that some are saying the atmosphere didn't match the performance.

Not everyone is going to agree but I donā€™t think youā€™re any more in the know than me or anyone else. And The Club are hardly going to open a debate for STHs, unless itā€™s not working for them.

I had a great time on Saturday. Good people around us but there wasnā€™t a collective effort of support. Something that away games are made for really.

The team were great and we played some fantastic football.

Similar around me.

I was getting some odd looks for suggesting the referee was not performing at an elite level ( or words to that effect).
