Day 2 completed. Just a minor wobble with an extra glass of wine at full-time of the Liverpool result.

I find the first 5 days (120 hours ) the toughest so I'm almost halfway there now. 10am here, so 58 hours done.

Day 3: 86.1kg (13st 8lb) and 17.8% body fat.

That’s 0.4kg (1lb) down from the day 1 weigh-in, but 0.45kg up on yesterday.

Probably need to have at least a week’s worth of data to smooth out the daily fluctuations and to see if my attempt at healthier living is having an impact.

I experimented today with a new recipe.

Chick peas and mushrooms in a tomato and chilli sugar free sauce. No rice or pasta.

Filling and really tasty.

Hopefully, this and similar will be a game changer for November.
Protein to fill you up and help with the muscles!

We're sticking to 2:1:1 ratio on the plate this month. 2 parts veg, to one part carb and one part protein (and if you have more protein, it's at the expense of the carb). In the past I used to probably have 50% carb (rice, pasta, mash etc) but I haven't missed it as we've bulked up on interesting veg.

Doing a roast chicken today, but dropped the volume of roasties and added baked red cabbage.

Knew my scales were a bit out - or maybe it was the dessert at the pub lunch yesterday when meeting friends 😂

Anyway back to 12st 3lbs so no change from start.

@Professor Plum a more on par row today. Always feels like a lot of work for so little calories burnt! Does anyone else in this thread use a rowing machine regularly?

Anyone fancy joining me in trying to lose half a stone in November? A bit of pre-Christmas discipline.

All you have to do is post your weight change on here each day in November. No need to fess up your current weight, unless you want to. Just the running total loss (or gain).

A bit of accountability and support could really help.
I've come to this a bit late, apologies.

I had a bit of a scare with my most recent Hba1C blood test results and my GP surgery had suggested I might like to enrol on the NHS Soups and Shakes diet programme (it's got a new name now, but the same process).
The programme, unsurprisingly, has you live on nothing but soups and shakes for a 3 month period, with the aim of helping you make rapid weight loss. You are then mentored for the next 9 months, so a year in total, to help you change your eating ways and keep the weight off - and hopefully put diabetes into "remission".
I joined in a Teams meeting to enrol - but quickly realised the people on the call weren't "like me" - they all had a multitude of either health reasons or personal circumstances that made their weight gain almost inevitable - whereas mine was largely down to being a bit of a greedy pig!
Consequently I decided to go it alone.
I began my new healthy eating, cutting out all the snacks, biscuits, cakes, ice creams (basically all the NICE stuff) that I used to eat all too regularly.
I bought myself a soup maker from the Aldi centre-aisle (other centre-aisles are available) and downloaded multiple low calorie recipes for soups, curries and stews. I stocked up my supplies of herbs, spices and oils and off I went...

I changed my eating habits on August 29th, when I weighed 16st 9lb (sorry too old for kilos) and as of yesterday I weighed in at 14st 6lb - a total current loss of 2st 3lb (a quick Google check for the younger ones, tells me that is 13.6kg loss).

Coming back to the point of the thread, since November 1st I have lost 3lb, a pound a day, although I had an day off yesterday for a family visit, so I may have a blip on my daily weigh in later today.

Good luck to anyone taking part and trying to lose weight. For me, it is far too easy to make excuses, particularly at this time of year, but again for me, I have found once you break the cycle of "routine" snacking, the weight lose has been quite easy.

Now to try and maintain this over Christmas! That's the next challenge...

Almost identical situation to me, except they signed me up to the shake diet and i ended up on a 'lose weight before surgery' course and not a shake in sight, so knocked that on the head. Lost 1 stone since May then had to have our family pet put to sleep which knocked me more than i thought it would, so starting again today. Going the slimfast type shakes for breakfast/lunch and then soap or salad with chicken for dinner. todays score is 15st 6lb.

i had a Concept 2 erg for best part of 10 years. Sold it a few years ago. Did over 17 million meters in that time. I went through phases of loving it and hating it. I do occasionally think about getting another one.

I used to log all my rows on the Concept 2 website and also used a computer program called RowPro to row with people all over the world - which helped with motivation.

It starts today, really, for me.

Weekends are always unhealthy, relatively speaking.

After Friday night's curry-and-booze binge, Saturday and Sunday were quite typical - (veggie) sausage, egg and cheese muffins with hash browns for breakfast, and home-made pizza for dinner on Saturday night.

We'd promised Bozza jnr lunch at his favourite spot, Woods in Worthing, over half-term, and we didn't make it there until yesterday, which meant (veggie) burger, fries, mozzarella sticks and mac & cheese.

However, despite that unhealth-fest I have made positive changes - no booze on either Saturday or Sunday - both evenings would normally see me enjoy a bottle of wine and a sack of crisps, I've resisted my mum's bowl of cheese biscuits all weekend, and I've upped the pace of the dog walks a bit.

I did weigh myself this morning, just out of interest and I'm down a whopping 0.2 of a pound. However, I'll take that as a win, as I expected to see I'd gained weight. So about 1.5 pounds to lose by Friday morning to be on track - I reckon I should make that.

Day 4: 16st 1.5lb
-2.5lb

Usual caveat, daily weight can be volatile, but encouraging. Had a Sunday roast yesterday but went light on spuds and amped up the veg. Had it at around 3pm, so didn't fancy dinner.

I hope all you weekly weighers are feeling good.
No progress for me yesterday (not going to bother posting the actual numbers more than every few days), presumably not helped by my misjudging the quantity of Yorkshire pudding I made for dinner and eating enough for about 3 people.
