Was he not fully fit? He got significant minutes towards the end of last season - I don't think any of us really know that.
He averaged 30 mins per game over the final 13 matches, so although he contributed I'd argue that as were were total rubbish at the end of last season and were really struggling for spark, either fitness or form on his part was keeping him out of the team. No one else was at it from about March.

After such a long time out with such a significant injury, I suspect it takes months not weeks to reach full match fitness

How about you all get behind the lad, hes a fantastic player that just needs a goal

He was far from poor tonight, in fact he was always trying to be positive on the pitch.

Honestly its like if he dosent thrash one on from 30 yards or tear apart a side thats top of the prem after having not started a game for weeks he must have had a nighmtare and been shit

All i saw was a player trying his bloody hardest as he always does and trying to make something happen.
100% correct. I've genuinely started to not come on here after matches. It's so depressing. Incredible black and white, binary thinking. Almost always about really young players. 2 or 3 games in any direction and it's love or kill. He's an excellent player not playing well.

Some of the projection, where people seem to be able to judge what he's thinking and feeling, is incredible.

I'd say it's probably preferable that a load of middle aged fatties, snorting their dissatisfaction through a piglets pie, should manage their own reactionary nervous systems better.

That said, his two free kicks were f*king diabolical.

I reckon he's the sort of player whose free-kicks will mostly end up in Row Z, something like 1 in 20 will be spectacular goals.

I don’t know a huge amount about Julio, but he’s a 20 year old kid who had hardly been out of rural Paraguay until 2 years ago. I’m not sure he speaks decent Spanish, yet alone English (I’m pretty sure his first language is a Paraguayan dialect).
He’s a very long way from home and had a serious injury which stopped him doing (possibly) the only thing he loves.

What I saw last night was a guy desperate to make a difference. Ok, some of his dead ball efforts weren’t great - but right now he is still the best we have in that department.

Personally I’m cutting him some slack.

with his obvious skill lets hope he comes good. However the main problem he shows no signs of been a team player and making runs etc for others. All he seems to want to do is recieve the ball and then try and score a worldie. Unfortunately this so often leads to him losing the ball and opposition is away

Maybe, but he is so young and when his skill set and football brain is improved, what a player he will become.

The annoying thing was that it WAS there in the Wolves match.....and then he got injured :(

and ever since, like Lamptey, he's not been the same player and tries too hard to do things on his own.

The skill to set up the goal vs Crawley was amazing, but he's not going to get solid game time on that alone.

I'm afraid I'm in the camp of 'loan/get rid'

Enciso is 20 years old. He was 18 when he scored the Chelsea and City goals! He then he lost a season through injury. Like Ferguson he needs to be supported, nurtured and developed.

Buonanotte is six months younger, but hasn't had the injury gap and has played more EPL minutes than Julio. FB is currently showing that the right development path for each individual will give them the best chance to become their best self. We do not know Enciso and have to trust that those who do are giving him the path that suits him. We need to be patient and supportive and not to get the knives out because youngsters show inconsistency.

Before his injury, he had a run of 14 EPL games where he scored 4 and assisted 4. Since his return he has mainly had 10-20 minutes off the bench at the end of matches, not once playing for 90 minutes and only more than 45 minutes on a few occasions. He's a talent at a very young age who is being managed correctly. If all goes to plan, we'll see the best of him, but it probably won't be this season, so it might be best to view him in those terms.

If he can't speak English then I highly doubt he can read it so I'm not sure why certain people are being so precious on an internet fans forum?

I didn't hear any abuse at all towards him on Wednesday night, me included. I live by the rule of support the team/players when I'm there but once I leave the stadium then my opinion is my opinion and that's what this board is for. I'm not actually reading any abuse of the lad on this thread either, for instance I don't see anyone calling him "shit", just some people pointing out that he's in a vicious circle of needing minutes but his current form is meaning he's unlikely to get them. I do have the opinion that he made a mistake going to the Olympics when not fully fit and prioritised that event over his short to mid-term future at this club.

Agreed. I felt he worked hard, and for the team. The result wasn't his fault at all.

So very young player, abroad in a different country and different language, progression disrupted by injury, not really finding his form, not getting regular game time and possibly has a tendency to try and do too much, mishits his dead ball attempts which he has obviously been assigned to, presumably due to what he does in training.

I wonder ???

And he's probably far more frustrated about it than many on here.
