On the ocean wave
First time with a bike, after final whistle I walked past the colossal queue for trains. Noticeable that many folk furtively skipped possibly 1000’s, then queue jumped just before the barriers start.

Surprised that no one says anything!
They really need to have someone there to police that. I've spoken up once & got the expected tirade of abuse from some lout. One for the FAB, an easy fix?

Not really a police matter. But do need barriers further back and more stewards. Yesterday was really bad.

Saying that my first time in the ESU and it was happening in the food queues as well, called most out who gave a ‘who me?’ Look while sheepishly going to the back

When Liverpool went 3-1 up. #badfan
Me too - my train was cancelled coming down from London and the one I caught left late so I arrived at Lewes later than planned around 6.10pm - queue not too
bad - about 20 minute wait.

Heading home not so good - even leaving game early to avoid crowd ( which I have to do because of mobility issues) I still could not get on the next train at Falmer because hundred if people charged passed me ( literally ran) to get to the ramp first ☹️

Trains going back to East Croydon from Lewes were delayed due to signalling issue at East Croydon so it was pointless leaving around the 85th minute in the end.

Tbh I was expecting worse but it wasn’t impossible ( unlike a journey I made to Brighton a few weeks ago when all the Thameslink direct trains from Cambridge to Brighton or to Kings X were cancelled all afternoon and I had a 5 hour journey trying to negotiate an alternative route ☹️

Slightly off track. In fairness, the trains over the years to and from Hastings have been pretty reliable, but this season has seen a huge drop in standards -the last 2 matches particularly. After the Wolves game, We were told that the train was late, was terminating at Bexhill and anyone for Hastings, get out and wait for the next, which was delayed! Sadly, South Eastern don't seem to be much better -I walk the dog by Crowhurst Station and it is depressingly often that trains are delayed, when you see the departure boards. Whilst there were will always be issues such as trespassers on the line, that cause delays, I cannot help feeling that a culture of "could not care less" permeates through the whole industry. A little more pride in what they do would not go amiss.

Somebody should send these photos to PBOBE and ask him if he thinks this is acceptable

I really do think he cares. But there's definitely a part of me who wants to have PB as a guest with me on a rainy midweek game travelling to/from Portslade. "Can't leave until 5 Paul I don't finish work until then. Nah don't worry about dinner we'll get something at the ground (lol)."

I know it's childish and I'm not bitter, but it's a bit grating hearing "we're really sorry but there's just nothing that can be done" when you know the people saying it get to sail in and out of the ground in their BMW X5s with M sport trim and harmon kardon stereo.

Ok I am bitter.

Wow, just seen the pics of those queues. We held back and had a couple on the concourse, headed down and took about 5/10 mins to get on board westbound. The queues east were MASSIVE.
Must be a better system, anyone would think Barbs OBE controlled such matters so you stayed behind for a couple.

I agree.

Last week as mentioned above when travelling to Brighton from Cambridge, the first cancellation was with 2 hours notice because of a shortage of crew. Another train was cancelled because of a body on the line causing wide spread back up then the next trains finally all cancelled that afternoon because of a fire by the tracks at a station en route.

Shlt happens but this route ran hourly trains - are they telling us they couldn’t pull a driver off later train to do an earlier shift so the original train I had booked at midday could still run?

After the fire event, we waited 2 hours on the platform for information there was still no replacement buses and there never were.

Train fare hike has been announced recently - 4.6% and railcards by £5 ( that’s a 25% increase in a disabled railcard)

I wonder if the train companies will have the same problem as water companies being fined then claiming they don’t have enough profits to maintain the industry?

My entire journey was refunded last week including taxi fares I forked out because of the diversion to another station. How many millions of pounds are the rail companies losing each year from compensation paid out for delays and cancellations?

The dull part of the south coast
PBOBE will just blame southern and say big crowd and not enough trains, the transport has been a disaster from day 1
Of course he’ll blame Southern as everyone else will. They are the transport provider and they don’t provide, and they’ll trot out the same old excuses as to why not. I’m sure Jack Albion would be able to elaborate more on this problem.

That is, quite simply, not the stadium that so many of us marched and campaigned for.

Those appalling travelling conditions reflect terribly badly on the priorities of the club’s current custodians. Sort it out.

You’re spot on.

And it is impractical for PBOBE to do with his commitments at the stadium, but there’s nothing stopping the club from having other employees become mystery shoppers and travel to and from a game “as a real fan”, document and report back.
