Probably not, I agree - but for Biden to express anger at a comedian‘s attacks on Puerto Ricans, who are US citizens should anyone forget that and at them for calling the island of Puerto Rico ‘floating garbage’ is entirely understandable.

I mean wtf - that’s like Reform staging a comedian who attacks the British citizens who live on the island of Jersey and anyone from there.

The Democrats are becoming furious with what Trump and his supporters are doing both to undermine faith in the electoral system and how they are treating their fellow Americans in this campaign - it’s gloves off.

But that’s not news.

This is news …

Not helpful at all.

I have no idea what the Democrats are doing letting a senile old man spout forth when he was stood down as their candidate because he has lost the plot. I posted weeks ago (when Harris was given the nomination) that he should be gagged and sent to sit on the beach for the duration. Why, oh why, are they still letting him in front of a microphone? This has really pissed me off.
The Democrats (whisper it) are fuckwits.

Which is why some sensible people are holding their noses and backing Trump.

It is what it is.

Incidentally I have just come back from having a blood sample (PSA test) and the NHS nurse (late 50s) who jabbed me is raving anti-labour, and was mithering about the budget. I floated a Corbyn maggot to see if she would bite, revealing herself to be red in tooth and claw, but no. It was clear when I mentioned Sunk and was blanked that she's a Tory. A tory NHS nurse.

I was tempted to ask for my blood back.

You are absolutely right but he is still the President. If he wants to babble away in front of a microphone nobody can really stop him.

My wife has worked for the NHS for 30 years - and is dyed in the wool blue Tory. Wont hear a word against them, yet complains about the state of the trust. Oh the irony.
Same with her mother who worked for the NHS all her life....and has struggled to live comfortably throughout, yet hates Labour with a passion.

I refuse to talk politics with them. Love my wife to bits, but FFS..... 🤦‍♂️

Unless someone had engaged her in a political discussion, why would she have been moaning about Labour and the Budget.

Can well imagine the outrage if a Tory patient received an anti-Tory diatribe from a doctor or nurse; they'd be told not to make political comments in their professional role - as Mrs Peteinblack (a nurse!) has been instructed previously when she complained about the Tories to a patient who'd moaned about waiting so long for their appointment. The patient reported her to management.

As always, Tories will always publicly rant against Labour at every opportunity, but demand that everyone else keeps their political views to themselves, especially if they work for the public sector - while condemning 'cancel culture'. They are absolute arrogant f*cking hypocrites, and I despise them.

I agree.

I genuinely do believe Biden was referring to the racist remarks at MSG. His life and his humanity across decades and across all parts of society show the true man he is.

That said its the ideal propaganda soundbite clip to try and drive more hate, anger and division on the MAGA side. There is simply no benefit for a gaffe prone, cumbersome old man to be anywhere near the cameras. He offers nothing but risk.

That’s a bit harsh and unrealistic- he’s still POTUS.:lolol:

Mind you - wtf is he still doing in the WH? He’s a walking advert for the 25th Amendment and he looks like a toothless octogenarian with a brain ….

oh.

So the Dems should now invoke the 25th, make the Vice President the President - can you think of anything that would drive Trump more crazy than Harris taking the oath of office a week before the election 😂

Being a Republican is fairly easy - it's all about living in the past.

Being a Democrat is challenging - it's about looking to build a better society and a brighter future for the country, and there's broad disagreement and different approaches to take. There's no one path so there are legitimate debates about the right policies and the right path to follow. Leading with hope and belief in a brighter future is much tougher than angrily banging on about the past.

To be fair, we had a nice consensual chat. I think the nurse raised the issue of politics, but I didn't mind.

It is simply that the idea that nurse could back the party that has run the NHS into the ground, and that contains an element that wishes the NHS never existed and want it privatized (a legitimate right wing position, if expressed honestly, in my view, albeit one with which I disagree), and which apparently underpays nurses (versus what they could earn in private hospitals) seems to be an act of self harm. Almost on a par with that C of E bishop who didn't believe in God. But that's their problem really.

I worked alongside a colleague who wouldn't hear a bad word about the Tories. This was when they were in opposition in the 2000's. In the run up to Cameron's election I said something along the lines of 'if they get in, there will be cuts; if there are cuts, there will be a restructure and job losses; and the jobs that will go are the newer type posts that have been created with Labour money rather than the core posts which we have to retain whatever'. She'd have none of it and wouldn't believe me.

A year later we had a restructure, a reduction in my team from 5 to 2 (the original core posts).

She wasn't one of the two.

Hard to disagree , but they don't get this stuff doesn't help.

It fuels his argument to elite are out to get him and his supporters.

Just ignore him.
It might help some people. Obviously, everyone on here is dyed in the wool and not for changing. But in America there are (somehow) genuinely people who haven't decided yet, maybe being presented with what Trump has ACTUALLY said and done - it might sway them. It might not. But 1.5 million views in about 12 hours shows that video is getting around, hopefully it gets around to the right audience to make a difference.

Trump cannot be ignored, he represents a serious threat. He needs to be mocked a lot more for the stupid shit he says.

He absolutely can be ignored, if he was ignored a couple of years ago we wouldn't be in this position now, he started climbing in the polls after the court cases. Should have waited till after this election.

Oh right, so he shouldn't have been held legally accountable for his many crimes? That's a ridiculous take and completely divorced from reality. He was rightly prosecuted.

It's impossible to know how to deal with a Cult leader like him. It was very important for historical precedent that he was prosecuted and not just allowed to break every law without facing any consequences. If mistakes were made, it was assuming the Republican party would be strong enough to prevent him from being the nominee again. It wasn't. It's very important that their legal system hold everyone accountable, unfortunately it was also made abundantly clear how partisan the judges in those cases are and really highlights how dangerous the current situation in America is. Trump effectively has the Republican party and a whole host of Republican judges and the majority of the Supreme Court on his side. These aren't people who have the moral courage to apply the law fairly or evenly - they are hacks who have disgraced themselves and history will remember that. History will not be kind to the judges involved in preventing the legal cases and it will not be kind to the Supreme Court (in)justices who ignored law in order to further their own ideology.

I love the thought of Donald Trump getting the news and reacting like George W. Bush did when he got news of the attacks on the World Trade Centers in 2001.

No, he should have been held accountable after this election, by going after him before the election he's got absolutely nothing to lose and has ramped everything up.

The courts being loaded makes it even more reasonable to have waited

He was trailing Desantis in polls before the court cases really started and riled up his base, everytime he appears in court his polling goes up

People are making the same mistakes with trump as they did in 2016.

If Trump wins, the Dems and their supporters have gotten what they deserve by being naive.
