I really don't think that is true at all.

Like countries all over the world, Covid had an enormous effect on finances.

Many, many countries in Europe have suffered hugely because of Putins war in Ukraine.

You can't judge other countries by the holiday resorts that most people go to when going "abroad".

There is much to do in every country throughout the world. It is hoped for an upward turn in economics everywhere that will help all of us. Party politics will make little difference, despite the continual nonsense spouted on forums.

It's a nonsense.

I think the UK is a fantastic country .

I think your opinion that the UK is a decaying country and beyond saving is somewhat wide of the mark.

I don't share your depressing outlook. Sorry.
I am just a bit disappointed in the new government I guess.

There’s a lot in what you say and I should maybe count my blessings.

I think we're all a bit disappointed at the moment.

My reply to your post wasn't a criticism. You already know that I read your posts with interest and as I have said before....every now and then you let fly...ha ha. I've got used to you now.

I just don't like to read about people sinking into despair. There,s a lot of good things out there, as well as the bad.

Despite what 'some' may think, I am well aware of how things are in the UK, particularly around the Brighton area.

My stalker returns.

Oh , so sorry you utter piece of shit.

I assume that debars me from any opinion of the country i lived in for 60 years. The country I still pay a significant amount of tax to each year.

The country I still visit on a regular basis to see my children and friends.

The country that I believe has so much cultural interests and diversity and stunning places to visit.

The country that I still own a home in.

The unfortunate part is that it contains YOU.

Worst EVER moderator on this forum.

Please, do the decent thing and step down from your unwarranted position as a Moderator on this forum.
I think he should take a rest, something isn't right in his life, anger seems a big part of it, obsessions can be a real problem.
Perhaps a natural rest would damage his ego less than an outright ban for him.

Perhaps just disengage from people you don’t get along with on here?

Budget thread has nothing to do with the budget so, as a small business owner in the hospitality industry the 6% rise in minimum wage and increased NI for businesses is shit. What happened to the burden falling on those with the broadest shoulders. Most small businesses don't make huge profits yet are set to be clobbered here. Reduced hours for staff, inflationary price rises to pay for it. Thought we were supposed to be laser focused on economic growth. Yet again, clobbering the productive side of the economy rather than wealth will do the opposite. And I say this as someone who was happy with the election result

I mentioned the hospitality sector this week in one of the Labour/Budget threads. Also covered in detail on BBC R4 this year. A nightmare few years with significant cost increases across the board.

It's clear that hospitality has had it really tough for quite a while now and any rise in employer NI contributions (which are coming) ought to be offset with special measures for the hospitality sector to cope with it (eg reduced VAT).
That said, the money has got to come from somewhere and, like you, I'd expect this government to want to squeeze as much out of the asset-rich as possible. Not long to wait now to find out the details.
