I learned of this beautiful quote from Fernando Pessoa, from this beautiful track by Fraunhofer Diffraction.

"I am nothing. I'll never be anything. I couldn't want to be something. ...I have in me all the dreams in the world."

How I feel about that is summed up in my current user pic.

The third minute of this exposed me to the wreck of the Hesperus.

(Miniatures is a work of genius. Eight five minute tracks, each comprising of one minute miniature tracks by different artists.)

I also learned that this can be done. It can.

This song would have taught you something had you not already known it....

John Babbacombe Lee - found guilty of murder but they couldn’t hang him because the trapdoor on the gallows wouldn‘t open

(PS - what do I have to do to get the picture to appear rather than just the text for the link. I give up
Click on the YouTube tag on the bottom right. It opens up the vid in YouTube. Copy the url. Hay diddly diddly presto

Must have been hilarious for a ten year old listening to In the Middle of the Night :lolol:
Thinking about it now it was as much an educational safety information record . . . . Along with baggy trousers and the specials . . . my parent's were barely 30 at the time and pretty liberal, and protected us from the like of Jimmy Saville et all!

I learnt about the murder of Billy Lyons by "Stag" Lee Shelton on Christmas day in 1895 from Mississippi John Hurt...
If I hadn't first learnt it from him I would have learnt about it later from Nick Cave who did his own very different version.

Listening to my parents records as a kid I also learnt

Trevor wasn't that clever

Patricia from Plaistow was in a bad way

Blockheads have black and orange cars, they've sometimes got roll bars.

An inkling as to what I might do if I was with a woman.

and waking up . . . . . Well I didn't get that bit till much later.

Frankie Teardrop by suicide is based on a true story…a song you only listen to once it was once said.

It’s a hard listen and if you are a bit depressed don’t listen to it.

I had assumed that Bluebeard was a pirate like Blackbeard, yet through the Mountain Goats song Scotch Grove, and some follow-up digging around the tale, I learnt that Bluebeard was a very specific character in a very specific tale.
