Imagine my horror when I was working in a house recently and the customer made me tea in a clear mug that shape
Just why?
I know modern society tends to frown on judging other people's lifestyles, but people like that definitely need to be on some sort of register.

We could turn one of the more obscure and isolated Scottish islands into a colony for them.

Having said that, I am a sucker for tea or coffee served in a glass. I find it weirdly fascinating for some reason. As long as it's a sensible shape, obviously.

Tea in a glass mug is a no no for me
I was in Istanbul about 13 years ago, on the ferry across the Bosphorus they had a bloke going around selling little glasses of chai (or whatever exactly it was, some sort of Turkish tea at any rate) from a tray he was carrying around.

That was classy and vaguely exotic. Tea in a glass mug, much less so.

Coffee in a glass is so 1970’s Wimpy bar.

Notwithstanding what I wrote above, I'm not convinced I've ever actually drunk coffee out of a glass. I must have done. Surely. At some point.

I definitely never went in a Wimpy bar in the 70s. So I'll have to excuse myself from that part of the conversation.

Chopping cucumber for fajitas or tacos has to be 9 or 12 thick slices, (approx 5mm), to further chop in batches of 3 or 4. I couldn't cut 10 or 11 slices. That has meant on occasion bits of cucumber being thrown away if I can't get 12 slices out of it! :(
I love cucumber so feel your pain

When we had a new kitchen my wife bought 12 new mugs, thinking she would bin all the old random ones.
I won’t make myself tea in this type of mug because I don’t like the shape. I have my own shelf in the cupboard with normal shape mugs that include old several Albion, some builders and plumbing merchants, Newhaven FC, Mickey Mouse and England.

Totally identify with that .

Have to have regular shaped mugs. And they have to be white inside.

I won’t drink out of cups/ mugs that are dark inside.

And yes 😔 they have to shelved this way with the handles to the right.

I know.

The yellow one would be out of my cupboard as it's not flat at the bottom.. 😮
Handles in the same direction makes complete sense as it saves on space. Now I've just looked in my cupboard I've just realised that I never drink out of the mugs that are not white inside.

I get what you mean about the yellow one.

It gives me some anxiety too 🤣

I only ever use it for Lemsip when I am poorly. It’s designed so you can “cup” the bottom with your hand.

But yeah. I know what you’re saying.

Those are two autistic traits.

I am very much the same. I have learned to tolerate other people's deviance at home, to a degree, but if the missus moves books around in the book shelves, I have to move them again so I feel I know where they are. Everything has to be accessible, which means visible. Luckily she knows about my foibles and works around them. Now.

The missus has her spaces that I don't touch. For the simple reason I find them destressing. Stuff all piled up...

But a few years ago in two of the kitchen cupboards the missus was keeping stuff I don't use - baking ingredients, flour, pasta and the like. She stuffed the cupboards till they wouldn't open. One time something fell out when I was looking for something. I took all the packets out. None sealed properly. 90% of it all was out of date. Some of it 4 or 5 years out of date. I binned the lot. She just shrugged. And slowly those 2 cupboards are filling up again.

Luckily she doesn't mess with my precious things. But shared spaces....she buys vegetables and doesn't use them, and they start to rot in the fridge. So I have to keep an eye on her crap. If I chuck it out she doesn't notice.

My ex wife was always moving stuff around. It made me feel ill. And she would use something from the fridge and leave the empty packaging. I remember one time looking for something to eat and there was nothing, just empty packaging.

I enjoy family life but it comes at quite a price for me with my very low thresholds of tolerance, and sometimes it can be . . . . difficult.

That’s a notorious trait of offspring, even in their 20’s. They use the last cereal, biscuit, packet of crisps, icecream etc, then leave the empty box or whatever in the larder or fridge.

Ah, as it has a legitimate purpose & is not just there to be annoying, it's fine. :lolol:

Blimey. There’s a whole other world out there that obviously I’ve been utterly oblivious to.

I don’t know if I’m missing out or if I’m blessed but I don’t do ANY of this shit.
