I’m not saying he didn’t balls up badly today, of course he did. But anyone catching a glimpse of his sheer despair at the final whistle - punching the ground etc - won’t have any doubt that he knows only too well he dropped a big old bollock on a big stage. I think some of the pitchforks and blazing torches on this thread might be getting just a tad OTT, just my tuppence worth.

What was the reaction of all the defenders/midfielders who’d screwed up royally?

Wow some people really need to get a grip with the over reaction. I know we're all gutted and yes it was a complete balls up with the 4 on 1. However, to start writing him off at this stage is ridiculous.
We're a quarter of the way through the season and he's shown nothing. Continually gives the ball away and too slow to close down out of possession.

At the moment that sums him up. Too slow and can’t pass. Can either of those things be improved or worked on? They seem ingrained.

Compare that to Gruda who is too weak but has a nice touch and good athleticism. He strikes me as an early Enciso or Buonanotte. Can be worked on in the gym and with games.

I don’t know how you correct the fundamental slowness of thought and inability of action Wieffer showed today,

But based on pretty limited game time.

I think people are just angry about today and scapegoat is needed. One perhaps silly negative thing I have picked up on is his running style. It's a rather ungainly hunched thing that reminds me of my own Sunday league showings after a big night out!

I’m actually embarrassed by some of our fan base.

I’m sure they will be back here in the weeks / months ahead praising the guy.

Shambles.

If you can’t support our players during the tough times then f*** off.
I appreciate and admire your positivity but please stop telling people to f*** off or abusing them.

Friendly warning because I don’t want to ban people when tempers are high.

Maybe he'll get the winner against Liverpool and all will be forgotten. Football works like that.
It's only a game and put yourself in his and his family's shoes this evening.
It’s only a game but he’s paid to do that job! Personally, he cost us all 3 points and I am having a hard time getting over it.
