Players like him who don't seem to fit into one old fashioned 'position' seem to suit us so well. Fluid football. Excited to see him and Pedro together although sure there are ways to play both plus Welbs if Mitoma needs a break. 3-4-2-1 as the front 3 all take up non-standard positions and interchange. Biggest thing though is he looks like having fun. Not sure how Enciso gets back in the side despite cameo minutes.

When rumours first started that we were in for Georginio I dismissed them as nonsense.

When it became apparent he was signing for £40, I bemoaned the decision. I pointed to his scoring record and some underwhelming performances in Leeds relegation season. I claimed the club had finally got one wrong. That maybe the metrics we use were a bit overrated

What a f******* mug I am. I was Incontrovertibly wrong. True, these are early days but out of all our summer signings, he's the one who has really hit the ground running.

My mistake, and I was far from alone of course, was to look for his output. What the club have done is sign someone on potential for improvement. And he's improving game by game.

I think most of us could have written this Nobby.

What is also amazing is that he's only 22. He looks and plays like a 30 year old.
He is also at the heart of the team celebrations and the fan interaction.
A very astute signing who puts a smile on people's faces.

Noticed that Rutter's currently credited with two goals and one assist in the EPL this season and wondered why he wasn't credited with a second against Newcastle on Saturday. Turns out he was credited for that, but wasn't given an assist for his match winning cross against Tottenham!

The EPL report says that his cross 'looped up off Bentancur': https://www.premierleague.com/news/4138769

I can't see any contact with Bentancur. Am I missing something? The third angle in this looks like a clean contact from Rutter without any deflection.

Fantasy League managers who have him must be a bit cross.

Inconclusive. But I can't see how they can definitely say it hit him.

In the absence of evidence got to give the credit to the attacking player

The whole area of awarding 'assists' is such absolute bollocks, that the stats can pretty much be ignored. The headline figures are almost worthless.

A four yard pass on the halfway line from Estupinan to Mitoma at Wolves last season - before Kaoru embarked on a 40 yards solo run and finish - registers as an 'assist' - yet Rutter's skill and cross for Welbeck's header does NOT, simply because it MAY have brushed the defender's foot? Absolute pile of wank.

I'd argue further, that even if there were irrefutably evidence that the ball DID brush Bentancur's foot, that it is STILL 100% Rutter's assist. He's performed the action that has created the goalscoring chance - and that in essence is all that is important.

Equally, I'd credit Mitoma with the assist for Minteh's goal in the same game. Mitoma runs down the wing and delivers a dangerous cross, from which we score. To my mind, THAT is the definition of an assist - regardless of the deflections off the Spurs defenders, trying unsuccessfully to deal with it.

Whatever the way, the goal v spurs was created by his absolute sheer determination not to give up

It was. Which is what caused me a little outrage that they penny pinched an assist from him. That moment won us the game and hopefully he'll continue in that way and we'll be looking back on it as the moment when we realised what a player we had on our hands. "But it might have deflected off the defender's foot." As @hans kraay fan club has suggested, absolute bollo.

That’s the thing with that data-led recruitment, isn’t it? The numbers and in-depth stats can show you stuff that the eyes and simple stats, such as goals and assists, can’t see.

If it was easy to see how instantly effective he was going to be at this level, we’d have had competition for his signature. Did we we wait until literally the last minute of the transfer window to trigger the release to not alert anyone else to our interest?

I checked the club site before the Newcastle game, because people were saying he hadn’t been given the assist at Spurs. The club had him down as 2 goals 1 assist, and I posted such on here.

Opta, WhoScored, FPL, every stat/data collecting company didn't give him the assist v Spurs. Definitely wasn't credited with one.

The club doing the right thing, but the EPL haven't given it to him. It doesn't really matter, as it doesn't change his brilliant battling run and tackle/cross. I was just surprised that they would go to the extreme levels of pettiness required to not credit something that could so obviously be used as an examplar in a training video called 'How to go the extra mile to assist your teammate'. Looks like the EPL may have had a bitter Spurs fan on the video replay. :ROFLMAO: ("Well he may have won them the points, but he's not getting that as an assist. That'll learn him.")

His name’s Georginio
He comes from France
He’s a gem
Leeds never had a chance
Now he’s at Brighton
Oh how he’s thriving
He’s our Georginio

(to the tune of Bella Ciao)
It doesn't quite work - the second line doesn't fit the tune. He's a gem, he's a gem, gem, gem, gem does but the next line doesn't

It needs a bit of polishing but I like the concept
