Been flip flopping with this guy. Hated him against arsenal and then his pace creates a one on one and boom. Thought he was good today but tough crowd on NSC.

He's definitely very raw though. As others have said maybe coming off the bench may make more sense at the moment

So, what's the Story?
Not in the squad today, there seemed to be some inside information yesterday that he wasn't available.

I suppose there could have been a gentleman's agreement in the deal that he wouldn't play against them at their place, disguised as a minor injury. Seems a fair possibility.
You think we'd reduce our chances of winning away at a Newcastle by not playing our 2nd most expensive signing ever because of a gentleman's agreement?

Maybe it was a concession to get the deal over the line, to buy a player that in reality they didn’t actually want to sell at all. In their minds it was bad enough that they had to sell, let alone that he then plays and scores against them. Let’s see what happens in the return fixture.

Red herring. During Howe's press conference he spoke about the need for Newcastle to sell him and how he felt coming up against him? Unless of course he was unaware of such an agreement

This is the premier league - not football manager 98 ffs - there would never be anything like an agreement like that. Ever.
We’ve done this in the distant past though, but we were a different club then. For example, when we signed Johnny Byrne back from Oxford, we played them a few weeks later and had an agreement not to select him against them.

Oh sure, if we made the agreement I'm sure we'd stick to it. I just don't think we'd ever agree to that as a condition of signing a player

I heard he had to help Phil Mitchell with a few jobs around Albert Square, which took longer than he thought, so couldn't make it from Walford to SJP in time for KO...
