Oh wise persons of NSC

I‘m looking for a pair of wireless headphones for my son.
Whilst his hearing is fine he suffers with ear infections a lot and in ear plugs seem to aggravate this.

Much of his music comes via like of Spotify through his phone, not sure if that makes much difference.

He‘s soon to be off for a holiday he’s been saving for for flaming ages. So, I’d really like to treat him to a pair so he can enjoy the use and not cause ear problems.

I can’t afford silly money, but likewise don’t want to buy ‘too cheap’. Is a budget of £100 realistic? If so do any of you experts out there have any recommendations of makes/models worth considering?

I’m no expert on models to buy, but the ear infection aspect seems important. Would he be willing to use overhead “cans” style headphones instead? Makes it a good deal less likely to cause problems than in-ear headphones.

Decent brand, well-regarded, good battery life, noise cancellation and on a bit of a discount.

If you don't trust your son to look after them, these are a good buy for half the price. (No noise cancellation)

Got the missus a pair of oneodio off Amazon and they do seem great quality for under £50 notes. Can use Bluetooth or attach a cable, over 100 hours battery life and comfortable to wear.
Might want something a bit better at folding up for traveling though.

I had a pair of Jabra Elite Actives (£165) die on me recently so was in the market for some in ear replacements.

After some research I settled with these , quarter of the price and no real noticable difference in sound quality.

Have a read of the reviews, they come out quite good in the sub £100 market. As much as these are technically in ear they are tiny and you don’t even notice them in

I’ve also got a pair of wireless JBL noise cancelling overhead phones for home use but the Jbuds are great for gym and on the go and the case is tiny despite the great battery life

Sennheiser is a good make imo. I’m sure they will have a range to suit various budgets.
Yep, agreed.

I've got an older model of the Sennheiser HD 450s and they're great. Good noise cancelling, the sound is good as well.

My only complaint is my ears get warm after an extended period of time wearing them but that's only a problem after four hours or so.

You cannot go wrong with anything that Sennheiser offer.
I have had a pair of their wireless BT headphones for years.
The only thing I've had to replace is the padded bits that decayed over time.

I have some Beats Solo - they’re ok but got the Mrs some Sony ones that were around £200 and they’re next level good tbh. I too suffer with ears so I would suggest OVER ear rather than on ear too - the ones @Bozza recommends seem decent.

Seconded. I have a pair of 450’s Bluetooth. Perfect on my commuting days, even on the tube. And bang on your £100 budget 👍

I love my beats
Yes the original marketing was great and giving them out to Olympians a stroke of genius.
Made bulky headphones that had been shunned by the masses something to have again, and everyone trying a pair for the first time would rave about how good they sounded.
Of course anyone who had been using actual headphones before and wasn't comparing them to their earbuds or those crappy headphones on a flight thought Christ that's a top end price for a distinctly mid set of cans.
