I think we should be supporting this, as a sign of solidarity with other clubs. It’s correct we don’t have this problem to the extent other clubs do, so the banner is probably the sticking point. Couldn’t we come up with a banner that suits our way of supporting this? I do appreciate you’ll support this in other ways, but the more visible the better….Isn’t our banner something like “If we can do it - so can you“…

Would it be possible to talk to the club and explain we want to support other fans - is there anything that we can do with the clubs blessing?

Is there a version of the banner that they would find acceptable?

Is there something else we can do?

Not sure where the £5 travel fee figure comes from. Removal of the free travel zone would add about £25 to the costs of getting to a game. That's effectively adding another season ticket to the cost of football for me. Would have to reconsider if I could still afford to go, or if I did still go drastically reduce my match day spend within the stadium etc. I'm sure many others would find themselves in a similar situation.

Who cares about this other than Paul Barber? What an absolutely ridiculous position to take.

Are fans being squeezed to the max for tickets, kits, food and drink, yes. Just because other clubs have it even worse doesn't mean this isn't an issue at our club and most clubs, especially in the Prem when Revenue from supporters makes up such a small amount compared to other streams.

If organised properly and aimed at all football clubs rather than ours specifically we should be right behind it. Maybe hold the banner at an away ground to make the point that it is aimed at all clubs and not necessarily an attack on our club who float from taking the piss on some things(ticket sharing) but are very good on others (Europa League 3 match pack). Newcastle still chuck fans up in the gods, would have been a great place for it

It’s been quoted a few times over the years of bearing a £50 cost which is factored into the season ticket cost.

It’s not particularly fair as not everyone uses the public transport in the zone. I use the clubs official transfer partner Seagulls travel to attend and even on a coach season ticket it’s £17 a game for me and £13 for the kid to go. Why our subsidiary can’t be transferred is laughable.

It’s essentially a cost of another season ticket. As a result we spend less at the stadium / shop these days than we did

I think we may have wandered off piste somewhat.

Is anyone suggesting that our club is soaking us for profiteering purposes?

I'm not sure anyone suggested that we have increased ticket prices to pay for players, either. As you say, a drop in the ocean (compared with TV income).

I am sure there are things our club could do better but I thought the thread was about another club price gouging. Not ours.

And in any model of how the world works, when every game sells out, looking for ways to lower ticket prices is not economically coherent.

I am all in favour of getting more things for less money, but all the while we are sold out and people like me have to leave the first half early to ensure I can buy half time stuff for my posse and find a place to stand to enjoy it, I simply can't understand the economic basis for making it all cheaper.

Even I, an old extreme left wing (just checking what JCFG used to call me before his flounce) socialist communist pinko liberal, struggle with alternatives to capitalism in a capitalist system, and ways to impose non-capitalism on all the capitalists.

Something about fairness: letting everyone have what they want, including other teams letting us win. Yeah, that would work.

I’m not saying make anything cheaper?

I am suggesting it’s unreasonable to not accolade something I am already paying for, to something I actually use, which happens to also be officially affiliated with club in the same field.

It’s not going to stop me going but it will have a knock on to what I spend as a result, particularly with two kid season tickets as well.

I believe you drive to games? So equally why couldn’t your annual travel subsidy be transferred to a couple (would have been 3 last year but that’s another matter!) of parking spaces per season as a credit instead of the train cost you are bearing but not using?

I normally are supportive of our supporters group, but this IMHO ais 100% wrong.

we have very short memories. Just because we are doing well now, and long may it continue, and we look to be financially secure depending on the patronage of one extremely rich individual. We have become very arrogant to assume that we should not support a nationally recognised campaign because we dont want to upset Barber or the management.

so basically the message we are sending is ” we are alright jack, f*** you lot “

this IMHO is a sad way to represent the fans…let’s face it the club don’t give a toss about our FAB as we have found out by the time they cancel meetings and basically use it as a tick box. Sorry Barry is back but don’t agree mate
