Cannot believe the brass neck of this bloke.

What? He wants to fly? Wants? Does he not realise how offensive this is? Stupid old man. Eleven people died, including two fine young men associated with our club.

The bloke needs to show some respect to the families and live out his days away from the public eye

I'm sorry, but how utterly boneheaded is this from his lawyer;
The former RAF and British Airways pilot claimed the Civil Aviation Authority took the decision to stop him flying based on public reaction to the 2015 disaster, an appeal panel heard today.

Mr Hill is applying to have his licence reinstated nine years after the tragedy.

Stephen Spence, representing the pilot, asked the CAA decision maker: “Had there been no fatalities, would the decision be the same?”
So you're saying, if I don't KILL PEOPLE, I might not go to jail?

:facepalm:

I’m personally delighted this cock won’t be let near an airplane again, the measure of this individual can be measured simply by the fact that he was responsible for the aircraft he was in and killed 11 people and ruined many other lives, he chose to publicly request his licence back which most normal people in these circumstances wouldn’t dream of doing!!!

I hope this is a day which can give the bereaved families a little comfort.

I also hope this is a day when that bell end pilot learns to have some respect for the feelings of those he has affected and takes some responsibility for the harm he has caused. Though I realise this is not likely

A good friend of mine used to belong to the same flying club as this bloke. When the shocking news broke all she said about it was "I'm saddened but not surprised, he's a risk taker who has an arrogant streak, think Lord Flashart but lacking charisma" or words to that effect, coincidently we were only talking about it again a few weeks ago, I wasn't aware this hearing was imminent.

Very good news. Even if there were no question marks at all over this guy’s flying behaviour, basic human decency would generally dictate that he’d not want to be anywhere near a cockpit again. Odd character.

Not defending him, and glad he'll never fly again ... but for sake of argument: plenty of people who have caused deaths by dangerous driving do do exactly this (want to drive again and have their licence back). So I don't find it particularly surprising that he thought he'd give it a go.

(FWIW, I personally think dangerous driving convictions where live-altering or life-ending injuries have been caused to innocent others should also be permanent exclusion from holding a licence).

Andrew Hill's sole interest was Andrew Hill.

The legal costs for this must be racking up, I trust the state (us) didn't subsidise his legal team.
