It really wasn't. Liverpool fans first started singing it in 1963 when Gerry and the Pacemakers released it. Celtic fans have never been known for their love of Rogers and Hammerstein musicals, but (along with everyone else) picked up on it later.Plagiarists? Same as every other club’s fans. I miss the 70s, when the chants were much more complex and often unique to each club. This old marching song was sung as a 'call and response' (one person singing each line, which is then repeated by the crowd). There were loads of different 'verses', but these are the ones I remember.

Yes, you’re right Liverpool did start YNWA as their anthem. Celtic fans apparently adopted it in 1966 after hearing it at Anfield when they played Liverpool in ECWC - some Celtic fans insist they were the first. Oh well.

That was quality.... at the City ground after he scored the injury time winner to get us in the play offs, the sound of that chant was deafening.
Last seasons, "We've got super Rob De Zerbi" sent tingles after Joao Pedros last minute winner V Marseille.
"You're going home in a Sussex Ambulence" used to be decent.......... until the away fans knew the ambulence would take over 3 hours, so ignored.
