For Me when this first came out I was utterly obsessed.

Shame that Isaac left - the last time I saw them I have to admit I was quite bored.

Phil Collins Debut single, Written while waiting for the other members of Genesis to return from their solo project, created at his home studio, never to thinking it would be released. The opening song on the Album "Face Value", which is an eclectic mix of songs.

The gated reverb used in this song became the sound of the 80s, though it first appeared on Peter Gabriel's song "Intruder" (Phil Collins is on drums) In The Air Tonight was the first time it was really heard.

It appeared in Miami Vice. Mike Tyson sung it in the film "The Hangover", Risky Business Tom Cruise and Rebecca De Mornay and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories.

The most famous drum fill of all time, even used with a gorilla drumming in a Cadbury's advert

It also created an urban legend that was reference by Eminem in the song Stan.

The song is 43 years old and is still amazing people who first hear it. ( reaction videos on YouTube)

Maybe not the greatest but one of the most influential,
