Problem with the Dunk comparison is that Manchester City wouldn't pay £200m for Dunk... which may well be the case for Jack one day.

Jack seems a very grounded lad and is clearly coming on leaps and bounds. Long may it continue...
Imho he has done enough to keep his place and I would certainly hope that his midfield partner on Sunday has too. I really hope that they are given the chance to blossom together but for no logical reason at all, I have the feeling that the management team would like to get Wieffer in as soon as possible. All I would ask is that he earns it first because Jack & Carlos look potentially great.

Full Dutch international, bought to play there, two seasons at Feyenoord playing in Europe.
Who knows.
Last season it was he won't make 20 starts. Last month he's not good enough for us.
Can't wait for Dwayne to tell us he's not capable of winning his third Balón D'or in a row.

The lad's got a lot of potential and has proved he can play in centre mid and right back in the PL to good effect.
Let's not get ahead of ourselves trying to pre-emptively flog him for billions to the rich clubs or claiming he'll be a mainstay for England for decades to come.
We had this phase with Ferguson too, young players' development is rarely linear.

On the bench for the N. Ireland game. He and James Beadle made their debuts in the Austria friendly. He played 90 minutes at right back in a 4-1 win. He played in centre midfield for us once last season when Villa took us apart: bit of a baptism of fire. He was unlucky to have his first start in a game where the opposing manager had perfectly worked out how to exploit RDZ's tactics.

For those that missed it, there was a pitchside interview with Paul Reid at HT today. His first time back since he left to go home to Oz in 2008. He said that when he left, Jack H was only 1 or 2 years old

After our 3rd Jack was giving he whole squad the *keep focused* symbol (pointing to his head), lovely that a 19 year old is that mature. He's going to go far.

Interesting that it was Baleba rather than Hinshelwood who came off for Wieffer. He's now started in every game this season except the Crawley match and played 90 minutes in all but one. He's only started a few games in the midfield and will need more time to embed himself, but that needs to be balanced with his development. I hope that his perceived maturity doesn't lead to him being overused at 19 years old. Wharton is already showing signs of struggling with the workload at Palace. and he's played less minutes than Hinshelwood this season. With Milner coming back, Wieffer getting fitter and us finally having some fit full backs, there will be opportunities to give him a rest here and there. (He'll probably now have to fill in at centre half).

Yeh, I was thinking about this too. Part of me thinks it's a, Baleba has played more international minutes (than Jack has in the u21s) type decision. But the more time goes on the more evidence accrues that the manager sees Jack as our current first choice fit CM.

Still not entirely sold on his performances in midfield. For a club with top 8 ambitions I don't think JH is our starting midfielder just yet. But to have him as a utility player who is going to develop into a beautiful all-rounder will be great. However, my preference would be Weiffer and Baleba as our stronger central pairing.
Think it’s quite common for German coaches to build emotional connections with fans. See Klopp, for example. Think it has a lot to do with him being the local boy as to why we seem to be building the team around him. I really like it personally, he’ll get the time he needs to develop being a local boy fans won’t write him off so quickly (other than Dwayne). And how many other Premier league teams have even 1 let alone 2 (Dunk) local lads starting week in, week out?

I know we payed good money for Wieffer? But does he come across a little like he struggles to organise where his legs should be? He looks a little like a tottering giraffe to me. Not ruling out he'll come good. But I think Jack deserves to retain his place, albeit, he was quiet yesterday

He's only made two starts, so hasn't had much of a chance to get used to the pace of the EPL. He will have been used to having more space in Holland, so will have to adapt and playing regularly will be an important part of that. After the summer signings, I expected him and O'Reilly to be our central two, but with the form of Baleba and the growth of Hinshelwood, it's not obvious who the first picks would be if everybody's fit.

I still think Hinshelwood is a far better right back than he is CM.
