perhaps this is the missing ‘connection’ that fabian was talking about post-match. think it will be very interesting to see if he changes anything to mitigate that on sunday, because if there’s any team who’s pace in behind is going to cause problems for the back line, it’s spurs

You could argue the freekick was a result of the highline being breached. Had Purvis not hoiked him back there would have been another possiblity of a shot on goal.

Arsenal certainly seemed to get it right against PSG. A very high line and excellent pressing.

Yes, but the ball came through after a mistake in our possession pinballed and fell for their striker, could happen with any line, high or low? And that free kick was possibly the best I've ever seen.

And had Palmer pinged it in the top corner from somewhere even vaguely near where the offence took place it would have indisputably been the best free kick ever

I'm not sure that a more efficient press would have improved things very much. It's not as if Chelsea were given masses of time to slide perfect through balls into the stride of forwards. Often there'd be a first-time hoof over the top and into all the space between the back four and the penalty area. The press would have had to be 100 percent, all the time, on every Chelsea player.

Well, Fabs-Hürz was born in Houston, but it wouldn't be Houston's problem.

Houston's problem is the Astros lost to the Tigers 1 - 0 in a 3 game playoff.

Just on this pace thing. Be aware of the headline top speed figures. A player like Van der Ven has an extraordinary top speed for a central defender, but it may well take him a while to get there. if Mitoma was facing up against him over a 3 yard sprint from a standing start like he does against a full back, I’d fancy Kaoru every time.

Not reaching any mind bending conclusions about the game here, just that that a players top speed doesn’t give you an idea of how quick someone turns and doesn’t give you an idea of how someone accelerates. It only tells you what they can get to over longer distances
