Partisan? , I have visions of wearing a beret and hiding in the woods now :) . I'm just having fun most of the time, I love winding up those who are easily wound up and can't see that whining about what this and the meltdown thread have become is no different to all the diatribes against the Tories. I thought I'd been ignored by most, but obviously not so will try harder.

The right is obviously where my allegiances lie but I'm big enough to admit that the Tories royally messed things up and had to go. It's such a shame we only have 2 meaningful parties as I can't get on with Labour so find myself politically homeless at the moment. As for here I think I try and can have a polite debate about these things without name calling or flouncing and that's what it should be.

The Treasury is reconsidering parts of Labour’s manifesto plan to toughen up the abolition of non-domicile tax status.

This is on account of concerns over how much money will be raised, should wealthy foreigners simply leave the UK.

While no specific policy has been put to the Office of Budget Responsibility (OBR) as part of the Budget process, Treasury officials acknowledge that scrapping two concessions made by the previous government might not raise the £1bn they thought it would, or indeed any money at all.
The £1bn is earmarked in the Labour manifesto for extra hospital and dental appointments and school breakfast clubs.

Another flagship (or should it be dogwhistle) policy going well!

Legal challenge in Scotland to the withdrawal of WFP. The essence of the challenge is that the decision didn't meet a statutory requirement for a detailed equality impact assessment, regarding the elderly or disabled. If they're successful, it would postpone this by one winter.

Not sure how much this adds ..but mentioned on MSE

Over to the courts now for a judicial review.

If this has legs, it actually gives Reeves breathing space to come up with a better plan for winter 2025/26.
Yes yes but what about the black hole 😉…….nah seriously IF (oops caps)….then great …they can create an army of people to help with pension credit clains…..deal with said claims..as you say a better plan re WFA….or save the dough elsewhere

Interesting to see that they are now going rethink what they do with those with non dom status. There are about 70k of these. Easy to say things in opposition but sure they now realise they want these to stay in UK because they contribute about £6b in tax here and there will be plenty of countries that would welcome them.

How do you explain their biggest donor being a Muslim ?

Not sure if you have found your answer yet but this should help.

Lord Alli and Starmer’s MP candidate fixer

As the Telegraph reported:
Matthew Faulding, who was in charge of candidate selection for this year’s general election, worked in Lord Alli’s office on secondment from his firm BM Creative Management in the months before the poll.
He was blamed by critics of Sir Keir for “parachuting” favoured candidates into constituencies, imposing them on local Labour associations. He is now secretary of the Parliamentary Labour Party, “keeping them all in check” according to one former member of Labour’s National Executive Committee (NEC), who described the arrangement as “rotten to the core”.
Notably, parachuted candidates included the likes of self-professed “Zionist shitlord” and National Executive Committee (NEC) member Luke Akehurst for instance. The Telegraph rattled off a list of Faulding’s fixed candidates, as revealed by UnHerd journalist Michael Crick, including:

Josh Simons, the former director of the Starmerite think tank Labour Together who is now MP for Makerfield; Calvin Bailey, MP for Leyton and Wanstead; James Asser, former chair of the NEC and now MP for West Ham and Beckton
However, there was also one other critical detail that unveiled the can of corporatist worms writhing at the heart of the Labour right’s rotten core.
Specifically, the Telegraph also noted Faulding’s former role with lobbying firm Lowick Group.

Lowick: the new Labour right lobby kid on the block

Faulding was director of the lobbying corporation between August 2018 and February 2021.
Unsurprisingly, the firm has lobbied for a Who’s Who of big polluters. Clients include large property developers like Barratt Homes, multinational investment banking giant JP Morgan, and water industry lobby group Water UK, among other titans from the corporate world.

Silly old bat
I want him in the “posh bits” but i want him to pay 👍
How do you know he isn’t? He is probably still paying for his season ticket, but for security Arsenal have moved him to accommodate his security. Should he have to pay for his security as well?

From the BBC link

Starmer's use of seats in the directors' box for Arsenal's home matches at Emirates Stadium is not listed as a donation because those tickets are not possible to purchase.

So you only want MPs in future who are rich enough to pay to go in 'the posh bits' for their own security ? I wonder if you've thought this through

It does seem such a shame that Mouldy Boots, Pretty Pink fairy, JCFG, Wokeworrier, Hove Born and Bred, Two Professors, Pastafarian, Steve Foster and all those other accounts aren't here any more. They would have been all over this sort of bolleaux like a tramp on chips ???

He already pays for his own season ticket and has been moved through an agreement with the club. If the Albion moved your season ticket to a different part of the stadium because of an agreement made by someone else should you be expected to pay more too?

Why am I being screen grabbed and pasted on here?

As a point of fact I’ve been rather objective on here.

I had a genuine change of mind about the heating allowance.

I’m severely critical of Starmers’ freebies

In fact I don’t like Starmer very much at all

But I do think Labour need a chance to repair the Tory damage.
I am usually on the same page as you (and I certainly am about Starmer). And I agree that Labour needs to have a chance of repairing the Tory damage. I just don't think that putting the boot into pensioners then taking off on a trip to go hobnobbing with the orange arsehole in the USA is a particularly good start.

No, of course not. But he should pay the value of the corporate hospitality that he is receiving.

He can put his existing ST on whatever is Arsenal's equivalent of the ticket exchange or Arsenal could refund the value of his unused ST (and re-sell) then he coughs up the full going rate for corporate hospitality out of his own pocket.
