What would you have given to Morgan Gibbs-White?

Back in the 80s and 90s, a good tackle. 00s and 10s just a foul but under the current rules a yellow min. Actually a yellow was better as VAR couldn't have intervened. A red may have been overturned.

But surely if he had got a straight red and VAR overruled it it would've been downgraded to a yellow and then sent off for two yellows?

If that's a red then both Arteta and Pep should have been sent off in the following game - both stepped on the pitch. To be fair, I can't remember the last time I saw Arteta inside his technical area.
It's atrocious. The little black-clad Spanish goblin is immune from punishment for camping outside his technical area, and even encroaching on the pitch, game after game.

Is it?

The ref orignally gave no foul. Stephen Warnock on 5Live thought it was a good tackle as, clearly, do most associated with Forest.

The yellow was ultimately given after, it seems, Anthony Taylor got involved.

A red wasn't issued, but it does look red-worthy.

So, which is the duh-brain obvious answer, please?
Ok
It was as much as a reference to the other “poll” which had a 90% plus answer and was a duh brain moment.

In my honest opinion and trying to not make a biased comment Morgan Gibbs-White talked himself into both bookings

On a slight tangent - how the f*** is Gibbs-White in the England squad? Bang average player.
Unfortunately the England squad is full of players like him - average and extremely unlikeable. That’s why I’ve lost all interest in the national team the last few years.

Just a note that Alex Crook on TalkSport, a huge United fan and their chief football correspondent, thought the ref had given a straight red and rightly so. He was convinced it was at least a booking and for him a straight red.

I think that’s at least a yellow 30 years ago, he’s lucky it wasn’t a straight red and a 3 match ban. He left the ground with both feet at full speed, that has been a no no for a very long time in football,.
Yeh, I get that argument. I think it’s probably one of those orange card tackles that could go either way. But it’s a yellow minimum.

According to TS (i was listening to the Cit/Arsenal game on way home) it was the 4th official who told him that it should be a yellow)
On radio after the match Warren said ref only booked him after he saw 4th official told him too.

Just watched the MOTD replays. The clearest second yellow you will ever see. MGW is off the ground and goes through Pedro to get to the ball. Even if he does get a toe on the ball its irrelevant because of the force used which takes out the player, and stops an attack. Gibbs-White and Nuno are probably as angry as they are not because they wouldnt agree its a second yellow if shown it again, but more because at the time with the ref making that 'got the ball' gesture and then seeming to changing his mind they probably feel the ref just doesn't know what he's doing. If the ref just instantly gives a yellow they probably have no case to be angry.

Also, i've seen no replay to show Fab do anything.. why did he get a red? Seemed very confused when the ref carded him.

It was an absolute stinker of a tackle, could have been really nasty for Joao Pedro and it was luck rather than intent/execution that it wasn't. A yellow all day long, possible straight red although it wasn't exactly Martin Taylor on Eduardo bad.

The ref showed his level of competence, by deciding that "getting the ball" was enough to negate giving a clear card.

Since when has it been ok to clatter through a player if your foot touches the ball on the way through?

True. I guess that's the source of MGW's anger. He thinks the ref is either saying ''he got the ball, so no foul'' or ''he got the ball, so its a foul, but no card'' but then see's a red card in his face. Either way its a complete cock up of how to handle things from the ref as its the clearest card he should ever have to give.

It definitely wasn't a good tackle but then it wasn't a penalty and Welbeck didn't foul the player who jumped miles up into the air. But hey ho, he got the correct decision in the end in this instance.
If FH was sent off for stepping on to the pitch then that is ridiculous.
Yes it was.

dont understand all those (on twitter) saying it's never a red card. it wasn't given a red card! cynical tackle deserving a yellow. not first time, seems a lot of people think that if a second yellow doesn't warrant a sending off, it shouldn't be given.
