I think it has aged very well. It will be played at my funeral.in 1907 it wasn't implied to be a song containing homosexual reference, Merely to be jolly.
Unfortunetly the song hasn't aged well.
I think it's very easy to sing the word 'gay' and understand that you are calling on folk to be happy of heart and not commanding them to take it up to the elbow. It's also easy not be embarrassed by the word 'gay' in the modern world. It's a sign of maturity.
