Ah great - did his move go to a tribunal, or did the clubs agree a deal?I work with Toby's dad, who will be a very proud father this evening. Toby would have made his Man United debut some time ago, but he had a serious injury last season which ruled him out for months.
He probably wishes that he had stayed with a Top 6 team. Poor lad having to play with that dross!Toby Collyers wiki profile makes me lol at this specific second in time (this prob happens a lot during footy games but..)
"came on against Liverpool to replace Casimero who never played for United again" sake
I'm afraid I don't know the answer to this. Rather amusingly, his dad doesn't particularly like football and I've not been instrusive enough to ask directly. I think I (we) would have heard about it if it had gone to tribunal, though. Most likely another 'undisclosed fee' that TB is so fond of.Ah great - did his move go to a tribunal, or did the clubs agree a deal?

In that case I imagine the club is due an additional chunk of change now after his first senior appearance. We agreed a deal. Even let him go on trial with them if I recall correctly.

So of all these players ahead of him in the midfield queue, two years later all we have is Moder on the outside looking in and a couple still out on loan.Yes indeed, good luck to him.
The pathway to a midfield place in the Albion team looks like a potentially rocky road. Leaving aside Biss (who presumably wil be gone) and Gross and Lallana who will likely be playing less (and not forgetting established under 23s like Leonard, Jenks, Spong, etc.) next season we'll be having Mac Allister, Moder, Mwepu, Alzate, Caicedo and possibly Kozlowski fighting over two or three midfield places.
Nice to be well-stocked - but we'll need to be careful we don't lose full internationals like Alzate and Mac if they don't feel they're getting enough game time.
You make it sound like we were more than happy for him to move on.We agreed a deal. Even let him go on trial with them if I recall correctly.

I doubt very much that was the case. But if a young player is determined to move, there isn't a whole lot the club can do.
".........and he didn’t deserve the treatment he got at Brighton in the end."Suggestion here that he was more moved on than poached?
No detail, but I can only imagine it was not to do with his ability as a player.
'Astronomical' - how United beat City and Chelsea to sign Casemiro replacement
Toby Collyer is highly rated at Man United and he recently made his senior league debut after signing a new contract.www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk
Does Mark Beard have an axe to grind?
Yeah, I am annoyed at Mark Beard for that, as much for the player as for the club.".........and he didn’t deserve the treatment he got at Brighton in the end."
Wonder WTF that's all about.
I remember the rumours circling that Man U were interested, then Collyer didn't play at all for a long time, and then the move was confirmed I think in the summer.".........and he didn’t deserve the treatment he got at Brighton in the end."

Perhaps it was the freezing out? But no inside knowledge here.
"Didn’t deserve the treatment he got at Brighton" sounds like something more than just "being let go", however disappointing that may have been. Ultimately though, I expect it will be another of Brighton's favourite transfers - "undisclosed", and that'll be it, and that's all we'll ever know! The article states that he had to get over the disappointment of being let go by Brighton, Man Utd were surprised to get the opportunity to sign him, as he was well regarded in his age group, everyone wanted to sign him, and that he was warned off going to Tottenham or Chelsea, as lower chance of breaking into the first team.
That makes it sound like he was forced into looking for somewhere else to be, for non footballing reasons, rather than Man Utd seducing him away.

I have no idea what went on but it is really quite bizarre. From what I've heard Collyer was refusing to agree a new deal with the club, despite us putting a decent contract on the table for him. As he wasn't willing to sign we didn't play him for most of that last season he was with us. I think that is what is being alluded to when they talk about how he was treated.
