[TV] Netflix - What's good to watch?

Not Netflix but if anyone was thinking of watching Mr Bigstuff on Sky I wouldn't.

Watched the first episode and thought this is crap. As it was only 30 mins an episode I stuck with the second episode which had one line that made me chuckle so carried on. It was dreadful but I saw it out because there was nothing else on and it's only 6 episodes. Sadly it's been left open for a second season. I won't be bothering if it gets commissioned.

Gave the first episode about 15 mins, then turned off. Utter dross.

I just about persevered with Dark for the first season but it just became hard work and slightly annoying imo so abandoned it early into S2.

Have just started 3 body problem and liking it more than I thought I would.

Also finally watched Godless after meaning to for years. Thoroughly enjoyable if youre into anything Wild West.

Kingsman, currently top of the film charts, which, in the school holidays usually means families are sitting down to watch it with their kids. Having just seen it for the first time...that ending, watching that unsuspectingly with your kids! :facepalm: :lolol:. How did they get away with that? :lolol:

Netflix’s starry espionage thriller, Black Doves, has been renewed by the streamer for a second series… even before the first has aired.

Keira Knightley, Ben Whishaw and Sarah Lancashire headline the series, which is written by the acclaimed Joe Barton.

Adeel Akhtar, Finn Bennett, Luther Ford and Tracey Ullman also join the cast.

Netflix with ads for £4.99 is bargaintastic imho, you hardly get any ads at all, sometimes one 29 second ad in the middle of a programme, but that's it.

Whatever did happen to Stat Brother btw?

You might pre-suppose that The Foreigner, a terrorism vengeance movie set in Belfast and London and starring Jackie Chan and - channeling his inner Gerry Adams - Pierce Brosnan might be a bit rubbish. But you'd be wrong. Recommended!

Really enjoyed Wyatt Earp and the History of the Cowboy. Not really a Western fan but this docu drama very enlightening.

Quite enjoying The Accident a Mexican 10-parter about a kids birthday party that goes tragically wrong. Has to be said it has a distinctly soap opera element to it. I'm only 4 episodes in, and with most of the issues seemingly resolved, part of the fun will be seeing how they manage to spin it out for another half dozen episodes 😄

Really enjoying KAOS - "A darkly comedic and contemporary reimagining of Greek mythology, exploring themes of gender politics, power, and life in the underworld."

This makes it sound less imaginative and fun than it is.

Big budget settings. Great casting and great performances.

Untold: Hope Solo vs US Soccer. I used to think Solo was the issue, but this film reversed that!

I watched the whole lot a couple of nights ago as I thought the Mrs. had given up after about 3 episodes.

Watched episode 4 again last night with her and will probably watch the rest again over the next couple of days.

She wasn't massively impressed with some of Jeff Goldblum's Greek pronunciation though.

Not Netflix but a National Geographic documentary released in 2021.

9/11 One day in America
Of all the 9/11 film archives around I watched this yesterday and it was hard viewing but simply something I'm glad I found.

It tells through real time footage and survivors testimony the total horror as the day unfolds, it's hard to watch and not feel multiple emotions,it does not pull any punches and there are very graphic images of human suffering intertwined with incredible feats of bravery,luck and misfortune by taking a step to the left or right made all the difference.

Apologies if it's already been mentioned,there are 6 hour long episodes.

Best thing I watched recently was a short TV series Korean Manga, Parasyte: The grey one.

Or you could try Mad Heidi for something that is more out there than the Sharknado movies.

Documentary on Apollo 13 is superb, always amazes me how they managed to run space programs/mission control on computers of that era, room full of smart scientists and engineers with a bank of pocket calculators smoking cigars, amazing

Watched Perfect Couple last week which was really good, and got half way through Monsters last night which is pretty disturbing tbh
