Tricky one, isn't it. Don't borrow money, it's called austerity; do borrow money, it's storing up debt for us to live better and our descendants to pay for it.
There is plenty of money about thigh isn't there. Just need to figure out where it is all going and perhaps send a bit less I. Those directions.

I find it interesting that we are all in a cost of living crisis yet supermarkets who are selling the food to us don't seem to have their profits effected.

I wonder if other companies continue to post healty profits and if they did so during austerity.

I dare say these kind of thoughts make me some kind of communist. 😂

How much profit is healthy and how much is excessive? Sainsbury's, for example, made sales of over £32 billion last year and had profits of £516 million. That's 1.6% profit on turnover. Even if they made no profit at all they couldn't reduce food prices very much.

But...but...I thought Starmer and Reeves hated all old people and wanted rid of them?
They probably still do😊.
Pension rise is due to Triple Lock that they have promised to honour until the end of this parliament, so I believe. However, if there hadn’t been the hoohaa/cock up over the WFP, I wouldn’t have put it past Reeves to back track on the Triple Lock undertaking. Don’t think she would dare to do that now, but who knows?

I guess it depends which 'profit' line is looked at. Underlying retail profit was £966m.

Which is actually not a very high percentage either.

This is a good point but I still take issue that during hard times the companies bottom line is not affected. Surely we should expect businesses profit margins to flex with the consumer economy. I would assume that smaller businesses are feeling the pinch.

The Ceo of both sainsbury's and Tescos certainly aren't feeling the pinch of the cost of living crisis like everyone else.

100% agree about CEO's pay, even allowed to get massive pay for failing business which is an absolute disgrace.

So all your experience of education to date is your own as a child, and some teachers you know? You haven’t actually volunteered, you don’t really know what goes on around SEND in schools, and most of this stuff like teachers bribing kids with sweats is another right brain fantasy.

I’ve tried a dialogue with you on a sensible level, but you don’t come back with anything to back up the wide ranging statements you make. It’s all hot air and old tropes about teaching and teachers.
Yes I have volunteered as I said I would do it free of charge because I want to help the teachers so they can help the kids, teacher tend to think they no best. The young ones don't, it just the older ones.
Yes teachers and schools do bribe with chocolate, I am not going to name them, they also cheat at their exams results by asking the less capable ones if they wish not to take their SATS they don't have to, because they don't want there schools bring down the school. All fact and I have first and second hand knowledge of the lot.
I do know what goes around in SEND, very little, I have spoken to many SEND departments and the ones I have delt with have been useless.

Its little talk and no action from SEND making it extremely difficult for parents to get anywhere.

Trust me I know.

So, the the average state pension rise in 2025 will be £400.00 per annum.

The average wage in the UK in the UK( according to Forbes ) was £ 35,880.00

The average increase at July 2024 was 5.4 % which amounts to £ 1,937.00 per annum.

Thankyou so much, all you political parties for your generosity.

Seriously....who the f*** needs the WFA when average earnings increase by £1,937 Per Annum and state pensions by the the almighty £400 per annum.

Forgive me for saying so , but the three witches now running this country ( Sue Gray, Rachel Reeves and Angela Rayno)r can go and f**k themselves.

PS; And please , let the soapbox posters have a field day with their utter bollocks. Off you go....

We are at the beginnings of our understanding of neurodoversity and schools are doing their best to respond to it.

However schools are still largely operated in the traditional manner which requires a fair amount of conformity of learning styles. Schools recognise the importance of differentiation and catering to different brains, interests and motivators and generally do their best within the limitations of the model we work under.

To my mind the revolution required to make education properly equitable will be expensive and unpalatable to those holding the purse strings.

My advice in your fight for equality is to vote for the party most willing to fund education and follow the model of successful education systems.

I believe that Finland who are currently at the pinnacle of education around the world chose to discontinue private education options outside faith or Montessori/Steiner schools.

I would ask you, how do you expect their to be equality in education with such a disparity in resources between private and state schools? Or are you only interested in equality between neuro diverse and nehotypical students.
There are many ways the education system could attempt to progress neurodiverse students, but they are unwilling to explore or pilot new ideas. How many questions in test for example are written in a way that they are easier to comprehend for a dyslexic.
An extra 25% time would never have help me for example. Maybe 75% extra and the exam be split in two shift would have helped someone like me.

Just curious but you seem to think that the "witches running this country" are to blame here. Can I ask what were the Tories going to give you had they got in that would have close gap you point out above? The triple lock is staying, and there was a tax break of £95 per year, strikes me under Tory you wouldn't have got anywhere near 5.4% increase anyhow?
