Beckham pretty much made a career out of exceptional crossing whilst being average at everything else (including free kicks).
Whilst Beckham was exceptional at crossing, he was a lot better than average at many other things too.

He’s got more football intelligence than anyone in the squad. Going to be an absolute starThe first 30 mins Jack had no assistance from anyone, everyone knows the biggest strength Arsenal have is down the right side with Saka, White and Odegaard, once he had some help from Baleba and Mitoma it wasn't such a problem, the lad is 19 playing out of position against one of the best right wingers in the country, give the lad a break. He is one of our own and has a great future get behind him.

Beckham, the guy that played for Man Utd during some of their most successful years, Real Madrid, AC Milan, PSG… was average at everything but crossing?Pundits on TNT praised Hinshelwood’s crossing on more than one occasion.

He struck a dead ball as well as anyone, which may have been natural, but which he also worked on for hundreds of hours. Those skills also transferred well into crossing and shooting in free play. Whether he picked players out or just crossed into pre-arranged areas is a moot point. I once saw him create two goals for (I think) Andy Cole away to Coventry but never took his eyes off the ball at any point. He was very fit and hard-working, but not especially fast, and wasn't brilliant at heading or tackling. But Manchester United and England had other players who could do those things. Just as they had players who could compensate for Gary Neville's inability to understand the offside law.Beckham, the guy that played for Man Utd during some of their most successful years, Real Madrid, AC Milan, PSG… was average at everything but crossing?
That’s some take.
Totally agree. I’d argue Beckham was a 7/10 at everything as a minimum, but a 10/10 at the things he did well.He struck a dead ball as well as anyone, which may have been natural, but which he also worked on for hundreds of hours. Did you ever see that Zidane film, when he was playing at Real Madrid? It was sort of a pre player cam film about Zidane, that just followed him around the pitch for the whole game. The thing that really struck me about it was how surprisingly lazy Zidane was, he seemed to stroll around a lot. But it was really contrasted by how hard Beckham worked. Beckham was involved in everything, through out the entire game.Whilst Beckham was exceptional at crossing, he was a lot better than average at many other things too.
What did you want him to do, he had two on one and no protection from Minteh and Moder?Very casual defending for their goal. Shouldnt be playing in defence. Don't get it.
The problem was no-one picked up Doherty who was completely free.Very casual defending for their goal. Shouldnt be playing in defence. Don't get it.

Luckily we have much better right and left backs so he will be on bench soon.I prefer him at Right back than left back
You relentlessly, miserable prat. Can't you keep your negativity to the one thread?Luckily we have much better right and left backs so he will be on bench soon.
Great defending by Hinsh, awful keeping by Steele.f***ing incredible defending by Hinshelwood!
