Maybe. But put yourself in his shoes and (if he's motivated by shite loads of cash) it's a great move.

I've been critical of players going to the sand-botherer league, but that's when they are ALREADY on hundreds of thousands a week. Toney does OK, but surely not in that league. If no-one else was in for him, then why not maximise his earnings?

Toney is in a different position to the wealthy stars who've been going to Saudi. Toney hasn't earned half of what the others have, so a big cheque is understandably significant.

That's pretty much exactly what I'm saying :lolol:

If you take that view, when do we stop saying yes to players when it makes us weaker to do so?
either way its a risk loose the player but those left know if they perform and a bigger club notices the club will not stand in their way or keep him to his contract sending out the exact opposite message which could work out or might not

But there seems to be two approaches:

- not stand in their way and accept a pretty low offer (Gilmour, Burn, Mac Allister, Gross)
- hold out for the maximum possible (Caicedo, Cucurella, Undav, White)

The argument I guess is the ones where we accepted lower offers, they were model professionals and didn't kick up a fuss. But it's a lot of money to miss out on for rewarding good behaviour, especially considering how stubborn the club have been with other sales.

I've just seen Michael Owen and Andrei Kanchelskis leaving the Little Chef at Hickstead in a Bucci Special. Not sure who was driving but the registration number was CA11 ERI.

Every situation is different. Maybe he has good reasons (not just wanting to move to a cool and big club).

Agree the squad is a little weaker without him but still very competitive. Not worried even if a replacement doesn't come.

I get that and it should generally be the rule. But it can't be every time and in this case we have a problem at CM, especially after the O'Riley injury. Occasionally we should say no and when an injury is out of our control the player might be more likely to understand.

You appear to have forgotten Trossard and Bissouma and Sanchez. Not sure they fit in either of your options. It is far more nuanced than you imply.

I’m here outside Withdean looking for any comings or goings, very quiet so far
Might be best if you went to the right place. Mind you, I'm here at the Goldstone and all I can see is folk coming out with toys and bird seed.

Just think they're shite enough to make sure our boys get a lot of play time.
Or possibly they take the time to look after our players with a good chance of playing time. There are a lot of crappier clubs out there.

Aren't we supposed to be buying a kid from Denmark? Can't we loan him to Chelsea?
We put in an offer for a Danish striker according to Ornstein ( I posted the link above).

Chelsea operate under a default transfer market strategy - assume they are in ‘dialogue’ to buy every player in the European leagues and BHAFC unless they state otherwise

I think Ferguson is safe - his trajectory trailed off last season with ‘young striker growing pains’ - I think
any Club will be wary of paying over £100m for him at the moment ( and we’ll not take anything less) until he’s completely in condition and has his mojo back.
