IMHO Mitoma, Van Hecke, Pedro and Verbruggen are the players who will be getting interest all summer.

According to the internet:

Mitoma - exp June 2027
Van Hecke - exp June 2027
Pedro - exp June 2027
Verbruggen - exp June 2028

In other words, we’re in a decent position this summer to hold firm.

It absolutely makes sense particularly in the case of Mitoma, Van Hecke and Pedro to extend contracts, or (and I hate to say it), cash in if the offer is enormous, because without extending the value will simply fall week on week, regardless of performance on the pitch.

So in an ideal world, a minimum of JPVH, Pedro and Mitoma sign new extended deals before the summer.

If this miracle were to happen, we keep the core of our team for next season, or get astronomical fees as compensation

For someone "not interested " in money He signed a new contract with us only 18 months ago and aren't we also are one of the" best teams. ?"

(granted if Real Madrid or Liverpool or Bayern came looking - not Saudi Arabia - we'll see if he stays)
Yeah I'm sure he likes money but it doesn't seem like his biggest drive. And no, if a player wants to win titles there are better options than Brighton. But again: very happy if he stays.

Joao Pedro signed a 5 year deal when he joined in 2023 so he's under contract until the summer of 2028. A contract extension wouldn't be a bad thing though.

On what I saw last night everyday and twice on a Sunday
Don't think its a strange choice, Donnarumma is not the goalie people thought he would become (if PSG could go back in time they'd sign a different keeper) and Bart is almost the same level.

I did think as I watched last night that Bart would be a massive improvement on the keeping I saw from the PSG keeper. Sanchez level of distribution and a penchant for punching catchable shots. He was very lucky defenders got in the way of so many shots.

If only Bart could start moving the ball out quickly rather than pissing about for 30 seconds with it.
Donnarumma is on a €18m contract I’m sure Bart would love some of that

Not Baleba? If he carries on the way he's going, I would say he would be VERY much in demand...

Great that you seem to have such an insight to his thinking

But judging by Verbruggen's penalty record (of not having got near enough to one to feel the air being displaced), if he had made that swap they would certainly be out of the Champions League

I think the PSG manager wouldn't swap the PSG keeper for the Brighton one
I don’t need to have a personal insight into Enrique’s thinking, just an interest and knowledge of French football which I assume you don’t have.

Peter Ward, Mark Lawrenson, Vincente, Mitoma.

All are players with something special that separate them from the hundreds of other footballers that have represented Brighton & Hove Albion.
It's very hard to define but beautiful to have been able to experience.

I think it's called magic.

Bart Verbruggen has played in one shootout in European football, with Anderlecht against Ludogorets.

He saved all three penalties.
And then I would humbly suggest that Ludogorets aren't taking penalties at the standard we're seeing in the Premier League or the knockout phase of the Champions League, because our current, and to be fair the PL keepers we've had previously, may as well have been standing in the corner quadrant for all the difference it's looked like making

Of course, it can always be twisted. We can say Donnarumma did nothing on those penalties yesterday since Darwin Sanchez took one and was always likely to miss given that he's a nervewreck. Or we can make up some other reason why something should or shouldnt count.

But he saved three penalties.

To be fair to Bart, my recollection is that he tends to jump the right way, as at Newcastle this month, but it's only half the battle

Possibly.

Or possibly Bart would have saved the Harvey Elliot goal that went through Donnarumma's weak hand in the first leg, and PSG would have gone through without even needing penalties?

Agree, but I'd Baleba to that list.

His lack of interest in money is nice but he lack of interest to play in the best teams and win titles seems slightly odd - but if he's happy, I'm (more than) happy.
I think you're being a bit harsh on player and club.

2025: F.A cup winner
2026: Europa league Winner
2027: Champions League winner
2028: Premier League
2029: World club cup winner

Seems perfectly reasonable.
