Spotify is for people who are too unimaginative/lazy and/or mean to get themselves a proper record/cd/download collection imo

You never own it either so stop paying and all your music just disappears

For that reason I am OUT

I regularly have this very argument with my kids too

Can I name one of my vinyl albums/singles that haven’t been played for 20 years plus?

I use spotify, for convenience, in the car, and at work. occaisionally at home, If I want to listen to music properly its in the music room and on vinyl played through my hi-fi.

As many of us have ecclectically beautiful tastes in music, If you do use spotify you quickly realise a lot is missing. why my band puts its stuff up there I don't know, its a significant contributor to us being financially unviable.

i thought this might be a fun thread recommending music.
All these things are true by the way.
- Spotify has a vast long tail catalogue of obsurities and rarities - as well as The Beatles and so on.
- You can subscribe to Spotify and have a big record/download/vinyl collection.
- You can subscribe but still agree that it could do more to support songwriters/music industry.

now thats out of the way. Here's the rather good Dead Famous People .

Falmer, soon...
Possibly good thread ruined by Spotify criterion. Let us know when you’ve removed it.

For clarity, the purpose of the Spotify requirement was to validate no. of plays and therefore obscurity - not to push anyone who doesn't have it do do so. I wrongly believed that the play count was in the web version (where no sign up is necessary) but have since discovered it isn't.

Unfortunate but there it is.
